OT – can’t find the Amex offers on my Lloyd’s Avios cc account anymore. Could someone point me in the right direction if they haven’t disappeared? Thanks

I see Virgin have a new caterer. When will these people learn that many vegetarians (and meat eaters for that matter) despise goat’s cheese

The fancy brigade can never stop putting goats cheese in veggie food. It has put me going to restaurants nowadays and as it is usually me who lands up paying they are missing out on loads of non-veggie meals as well.

OT – BA flight today showing as delayed due to late arriving aircraft, at the moment only an estimated 1.5 hour delay to arrival time but that’s been increasing every time I’ve checked. What are my rights through EU regulations (is this considered grounds for compensation based on EU261 if delayed by over 3 hours?). Know that I’m entitled to food / drink but am in J so will have the lounge.

    • Shoestring says:

In theory a late arriving aircraft is not usually grounds for refusal of EC261, even if the late arrival was caused the other end by extraordinary circs such as bad weather. BA is big enough o make alternative arrangements at its hubs in UK. That’s not so say BA would pay up without a fight, which it would probably lose. The fight is there to deter 95% of claimants, who would walk away.

I guess you’ll only get the email if you previously reserved a lounge with No1, so fwiw:

New lounges at Heathrow, Gatwick and Birmingham [No1]
We are excited to announce the opening of three new lounges and the launch of our latest concept, The House.
The House (pictured above) has a contemporary and international feel, with a dining room offering a truly global menu. It celebrates some of the best British produce, from award-winning English wines and cheeses, to a variety of London gins, and is now open at Heathrow, Terminal 4. This lounge is ideal for the business traveller or as the start to a long-haul flight.
On 1st November we open the door to the ultimate pre-flight departure at Birmingham Airport – the Clubrooms. This collection of beautifully designed, interconnected rooms is built in the style of a modern members’ club and is available to guests 12 years and over. It boasts à la carte dining, great airport views and the best access to most of the airport’s gates – ideal for a special occasion, and guests seeking calm and convenience.
My Lounge brings relaxed, social lounging to Gatwick’s South Terminal from December. This loft-inspired lounge combines bold contemporary design with the laid back feeling of home. It offers a delicious grazing menu and self-serve bar, a games room and airside views from the only outside terrace at the airport – great for informal lounging with friends and family.
Book your place at any one of these lounges, for travel before the end of the year, to take advantage of our special launch rates.
As a valued follower of No1 Lounges, use the promotional code THANKYOU5 before the end of October, to get an additional £5 per guest off at each of these new lounges, or 10% of a booking at any of our other lounges.
If you belong to a lounge membership scheme, you can use the code RESERVE20 to save 20% a reservation at any of our lounges where your card is accepted.

O/T I can confirm that my wife & I both got the £5 off £20 @Amazon statement credit (belatedly) on our Blue cards – this must only have arrived in the last couple of days – we got it on Gold & Plat last week & it definitely wasn’t there on Blue at the time. Must have been a second round of offers.

    Worth a double check —> x6 – that’ll do nicely! 🙂

  • SG says:

    Hi Rob
Do you know if Amex can see if an application has been made through a referral link?
    Application approved,card received-no referral bonus
Applicant wants to know if they’re getting the bonus for being referred before starting spending,I want to know if I get my referral points
As I know, once application approved, that triggers the referral bonus and do this does not look good
Amex say that they can not see if the applicant referred and that bonus posting can take up to 60-90 days
    Many thanks

    • Rob says:
