Hilton Honors has just launched its new Spring promotion, Points Unlimitedwhich is now open for registration.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

You will earn 2,000 bonus Hilton Honors points for every stay between 4th January and 5th May.

Even better, you will earn an additional 10,000 bonus Hilton Honors points for every FIVE stays OR TEN nights you complete, whichever comes first.

There is no cap to what you can earn and there are no minimum stay requirements.  The bonus should also trigger on reward stays given how similar promotions have worked in the past.

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, you are getting a good return on your spending here.  Someone who only ever spends one night at a time in a hotel would be earning – when you include the 10,000 bonus points per five stays – 4,000 bonus points per stayI would value that at £13 which is a VERY good return especially as it doesn’t include your base points or any status bonus.

You can register for the offer here.

Hilton Points Unlimited

There is no small print except that you need to register in advance via the Hilton website:

There is no minimum stay requirement

Existing bookings still count

All Hilton Family properties (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf-Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part – there is no list of non-participating hotels – except for Hampton properties in China

Hilton Honors double points Autumn 2018

Remember that Hilton is still offering a status match

If you have top tier status with another hotel programme, Hilton Honors will give you a 90 day free trial of Hilton Diamond or Gold status.

You need to supply a screenshot showing your top tier status in another programme (Wyndham Rewards excluded) plus a screenshot showing a paid stay in the previous 12 months.

If you complete eight stays (note it is stays, not nights) during the 90 days you will keep your Diamond status until 31st March 2020.  If you only manage four stays you will receive Gold status until 31st March 2020.  In reality, if you complete the challenge after 1st January 2019 I would expect that your status would last until 31st March 2021.

Conclusion

2,000 bonus points per stay is a decent offer, especially for someone who tends to do short stays.  The additional 10,000 points carrot for every five stays or 10 nights is a worthwhile extra bonus.  If your hotel stays are generally just for one night then you should seriously consider moving them (in chunks of five) to Hilton this Spring.

Make sure you register here if you have any Hilton stays coming up over the next four months.

Even if you don’t have any stays planned, it is still worth registering just in case – a lot can happen between now and 5th May.

Let’s see what IHG and Marriott / Starwood launch to compete with this ….

  • KP says:

Disappointed !! I was hoping the double points promo would be extended. Im going to move my stays to SPG

    • John says:

Excellent !! 4000 points per night is much better than the 1000 or less I would get with double points.

      • KP says:

Agree…but when I’m staying in Hilton hotels Mon-Fri each week…the double ponts rack up for me as opposed to 2k per stay

  • James says:

I have around 30k Amex points I need to transfer out. I don’t need anymore avois and just recently topped up my virgin account. Which hotel group is best value for transfer ? The Hilton one is 50% more till 21st but that’s just par with Radisson. Any views ?

    • Genghis says:

Where are you going to stay?

    • Peter K says:

It depends on whether you have status in any program that will give more “value” from a stay. Also if any program has hotels where you want to go (!) or hotels that you would want to stay in. Different hotel points are also worth differing amounts of course.

  • mahomed says:

Hi I am just checking whether reward stays count ? or do i have to buy something small from the mini bar or charge some incidentals to the room to make it count . 2 years ago I bought a small chocolate from the mini bar to earn points on the visa promotion .

  • TGLoyalty says:

Have you made any incidental spend to earn base points on reward stays? I know you shouldn’t have to but it’s one way to try and force them to post

  • Sam says:

I assume this promotion is only for stays booked direct with Hilton? I am staying at Hilton Cape Town for 6 nights in January (I am signed up for HH) but I booked my hotel together with flights via Expedia.

    • sunguy says:

Correct – Hilton do not officially recognise any stays booked through any other channel other than directly -especially for points.

If you have status, then its hotel (and often checkin/manager) dependant whether they honour any of the status benefits….but officially they dont.

Heck, I even had problems with them recognising stays booked with part pay with points and that was before they newly crud IT system!

  • Brighton Belle says:

Since mean-minded Hilton denied my last status match to Diamond as I hadn’t checked out on my final 8th stay when my 90 days window expired.. how long before I can have another run at it? I have lots of Hilton stays in 2019 so might as well try it again so I can use Diamond at the Conrad Hong Kong… which was the whole point of getting Diamond.

    • Crafty says:

Is there any particular benefit to being Diamond at that particular property? We are there in 2 weeks and I’ve just matched to Diamond.

  • John Matrix says:

Customer Service is indeed a farce – selectively answering questions and often just being plain stupid, possibly intentionally.

    • What's the Point says:

In 100% agreement here with these comments. I am still waiting for a 5 night points stay from 4 weeks ago to count towards my YTD status. I get a different answer every time I email Hilton. Some of their answers are just stupid, or they select which part of your query they want to answer.
For info – I also had some incidental spend on that stay.

I have also been waiting over a week now, for points to be returned to my account from a reward stay that I cancelled.

New IT system is a farce, what exactly did it improve?

      • Andijs says:

Go public on Facebook and Twitter…. I did and it got sorted VERY quickly a few weeks back when I was missing 320,000 points!

  • John Matrix says:

OT: It seems that IC have removed their pay TV service entirely (at IC Frankfurt at the very least), which explains why they’re removing the free movie from Ambassador….shame
