Hilton Honors has just launched its new Spring promotion, Points Unlimitedwhich is now open for registration.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

You will earn 2,000 bonus Hilton Honors points for every stay between 4th January and 5th May.

Even better, you will earn an additional 10,000 bonus Hilton Honors points for every FIVE stays OR TEN nights you complete, whichever comes first.

There is no cap to what you can earn and there are no minimum stay requirements.  The bonus should also trigger on reward stays given how similar promotions have worked in the past.

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, you are getting a good return on your spending here.  Someone who only ever spends one night at a time in a hotel would be earning – when you include the 10,000 bonus points per five stays – 4,000 bonus points per stayI would value that at £13 which is a VERY good return especially as it doesn’t include your base points or any status bonus.

You can register for the offer here.

Hilton Points Unlimited

There is no small print except that you need to register in advance via the Hilton website:

There is no minimum stay requirement

Existing bookings still count

All Hilton Family properties (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf-Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part – there is no list of non-participating hotels – except for Hampton properties in China

Hilton Honors double points Autumn 2018

Remember that Hilton is still offering a status match

If you have top tier status with another hotel programme, Hilton Honors will give you a 90 day free trial of Hilton Diamond or Gold status.

You need to supply a screenshot showing your top tier status in another programme (Wyndham Rewards excluded) plus a screenshot showing a paid stay in the previous 12 months.

If you complete eight stays (note it is stays, not nights) during the 90 days you will keep your Diamond status until 31st March 2020.  If you only manage four stays you will receive Gold status until 31st March 2020.  In reality, if you complete the challenge after 1st January 2019 I would expect that your status would last until 31st March 2021.

Conclusion

2,000 bonus points per stay is a decent offer, especially for someone who tends to do short stays.  The additional 10,000 points carrot for every five stays or 10 nights is a worthwhile extra bonus.  If your hotel stays are generally just for one night then you should seriously consider moving them (in chunks of five) to Hilton this Spring.

Make sure you register here if you have any Hilton stays coming up over the next four months.

Even if you don’t have any stays planned, it is still worth registering just in case – a lot can happen between now and 5th May.

Let’s see what IHG and Marriott / Starwood launch to compete with this ….

The link above worked properly for me…

  • a9504477 says:

Grrr, have a stay booked for Jan 3. Although checkout will be on the 4th, i guess it won’t count for the promo?

    • Dale says:

T&Cs are clear. I’m in the same boat, but also staying 4th and 5th

      • a9504477 says:

Actually they aren’t, or at least not to me, which is why i asked.

        In the FAQ it says:
If I check-in before January 4, 2019, or check-out after May 5, 2019, do I still earn credit for that stay?
Registered Hilton Honors members will receive a bonus only for the nights of an eligible stay completed during the Promotion Period, regardless of a check-in date before the Promotion Period begins or a check-out date after the Promotion Period ends.

I would argue that i complete my stay on Jan 4 as this is the day i check out, and that hence it should count towards the promotion but i suspect that Hilton’s interpretation is different.

    • Crafty says:

But you will get double points from the previous promotion.

  • Chuck says:

Anyone have experience of HH extending the deadline to qualify for status ? Annoyingly I’m going to be a couple of nights short of Diamond on Dec 31st and no way of doing the stays before Jan 6th.

  • Dale says:

    Agree with that sentiment

  • Steve says:

    Pointless – pun intended.

  • Rhi says:

I have a 7 night stay booked in mid-Jan so this is a bit annoying as I almost exclusively do 1-night stays otherwise! Typical! Should get the 10 night bonus at least though.

  • rob says:

Am I right in thinking that if you’re gold you can do a challenge to diamond and get diamond benefits for 90 days? If so where would one apply for this?

  • Michael says:

While most 5,000 point per night properties seem to have disappeared during 2018, for those that remain this would mean free 1 night stays for Diamonds if you stayed just one night each time and maximised the 5 stay bonus. You would get 2,000 points plus 2,000 bonus provided you do the five stays, plus the 1,000 points status bonus. Don’t have the list of remaining 5,000 point per night hotels, but I’m guessing it is probably Egypt, Turkey and Mexico that would have most of them now (just need to find two that are close to make it super easy!). This is also reliant on the promo working with reward stays, which appears TBC. Is my thinking here correct?

    • Michael says:

Actually, the FAQ is pretty clear on reward stays:

Will I earn Bonus Points for Reward Stays with the “Points Unlimited” promotion?

Yes – members will earn 2K Points per stay on reward stays. Reward stays will also count towards the 10,000 Bonus Point award.

    • Don says:

There’s so few 5k left… 2018 there was two in PL, two in RO. Dunno about TR.

If there was a good DT or Hilton with a lounge I’d be interested. Need to swap it every night and after 40 will get start the bonuses. I wonder if rollover will mean the bonus triggers unintentionally because the IT is so bad. It will be the first year they have rollover. I’ll start the year with 150 night rollover- Lol.

    • Crafty says:

Airport hotel in Bali is 5,000.
