60 families can join Hilton Honors for a day out at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking

EDIT:  This has now SOLD OUT.  As all 60 sets of tickets were still available late last night, we can be fairly certain that every attendee will be a Head for Points reader!  I hope you all have a great day.

Hilton Honors runs occasional tours of the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, where you can see the Formula 1 and production cars close up.

These trips are expensive (100,000 Hilton Honors points per pair) and during the day, usually during term time.  This means they are not great for children.

McLaren and Hilton have now launched a low-cost event especially for families.

Hilton McLaren family fun day

Take a look here.

Hilton is organising a Hilton Family Day on Saturday 27th July.  To quote:

“Join Hilton at their exclusive Family Day event at the McLaren Technology Centre with our McLaren Formula 1 and Golf partners. Hosted at the home of one of motorsport’s most prestigious facilities, you and your family will have behind-the-scenes access to McLaren’s state of the art HQ, as well as life on Tour experiences and golf tips told by Hilton Golf Ambassador and Ryder Cup star Jamie Donaldson.

Your family will have the opportunity to take part in a range of unique experiential activities, including tours of the MTC Boulevard, walking among the historical Formula 1 cars, setting a new time in the Pit Stop Challenge, the chance to test golfing skills on the renowned Hilton Bedroom Chipping experience and to try and beat a pro on the ultimate golfing simulator, plus much more! Your family can also take advantage of a range of food and refreshments on offer throughout the day, as well as a variety of giveaways and prizes to be won!”

The package includes (for FOUR people):

Exclusive access to the McLaren Technology Centre on July 27, 2019, between 11:00am – 4:00pm
Tours of the MTC Boulevard to walk among the historical Formula 1 cars
Meet and greet with Hilton Golf Ambassador, Jamie Donaldson
Pit stop challenge
Hilton Bedroom Chipping Experience
The Ultimate Golfing Simulator
Virtual reality experience
Prizes and giveaways
Refreshments and snacks served throughout the event
Return transfers from Woking Train Station

Hilton McLaren family fun day

There are 60 packages available, priced at 25,000 Hilton Honors points per package.  Given that I value a Hilton point at 0.33p, you are effectively ‘paying’ £85 for the full package above for four people.  This seems like a good deal to me.

You can redeem your Hilton Honors points for the McLaren family package here.

How to earn Hilton Honors points via UK credit cards

As a reminder, there are various ways of earning Hilton Honors points from UK credit cards.  Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses!

Do you know that holders of The Platinum Card from American Express receive FREE Hilton Honors Gold status for as long as they hold the card?  It also comes with Marriott Bonvoy Gold, Radisson Rewards Gold, Shangri-La Golden Circle Jade and Melia Rewards Gold status.  We reviewed American Express Platinum in detail here.

  1. Dare I ask what a ‘bedroom chipping’ experience is?

    • Its renowned, surely we all know already!

I assume something to to with fries and melted cheese?

    • See pic. no.2 on the redemption page. There are 5 pics. if you click on the icons at the bottom of the main pic., but, yes, somewhat amusing too!

  2. Spurs Debs says:

Thanks for heads up I’ve just got one of the Hilton packages. Be a great day out for the F1 and golf fans in the family.

  3. PaulC says:

For someone that works in the industry I find this amusing. I completely understand why people and families would like to see behind the scene’s of a luxury car brand facility but I certainly wouldn’t pay to see it! Being able to get out of my office chair at work and walk down the production line or prototype and concept build areas of Bentley for 5 years possible has taken the shine of it. I remember when I first went it was amazing to be walking past hundreds of new Bentley’s lined up outside but its just not the same anymore.

    • Don’t we all feel that way? I turned down a free BA CW ticket to New York the other week to see the new lounges. The main reason I hired Anika originally was that I was worried I would start finding all the luxury flying boring.

I’m sure you would happily have gone to New York for me and I would happily spend a day going around Bentley!

    • Peter K says:

I know what your mean. Having lived in Crewe for a while I started to feel like Audi was not a premium brand as so many Bentley workers had them they seemed 2 a penny.

      • Crafty says:

It’s funny you say that. I live nearby and everybody seems to have an Audi. Is that really why? I agree it’s completely devalued the brand in my mind (and they all seem to drive like entitled so-and-so’s).

  4. Ron Dennis says:

    Am I allowed to come?

  5. Some smart Alec will say it soon, so I may as well do it – Mercedes are sponsored by Bonvoy…

    Honda perhaps? 🙂

I’ve booked three packages – given I live within 3 miles of the MTC it’s a no brainer for me #bargain

  6. Only 30 packages remaining at 7.45 AM.

It looks like it could be a, mainly, “HFP Family Day”!

    • Almost certainly, given that the full 60 were still there at 11pm last night!

    • Spurs Debs says:

Well we are all looking forward to it, it’s a different day out and yes if you did it every day it would be boring but going to see the cars etc is as far removed from my daily grind as could possibly be.
I also consider 25k for four of us a bargain and a good use of my points.

      • Enjoy! I’m sure it’ll be a fun day out. I’ve done a couple of the F1 facility tours + dinner and McLaren/Hilton don’t skimp on anything. Also, I agree, 25K points for four people should be great value. You also get transfers from Woking station. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were also some freebies thrown in too!

  7. Robman says:

Well, I’ve grabbed one. Frankly I’m surprised that they have not been snapped up already. Seems like a bargain for the price. Must be the thought of all those kids flocking around! I’m sure it will be a great day. 17 left at 8:38.

  8. James says:

It doesn’t make clear if it’s 2 x Adults and 2 x Children or if 4 adults could use it

The Hilton page does say “family” but even the T&C’s aren’t clear

  9. Graham Walsh says:

Same day as the German GP. Very tempted to take the kids even though I’ve been as they are a customer.

    • Martin N says:

We are all booked and it seems like it will be a fantastic day out for the family. Thanks for the heads up.

As I am travelling up from the north, I need to decide if we should stay at Hilton Woking or Hilton Cobham (which looks a bit dated). I hopefully should also get 12% cash back from the Hilton stay booking with my Visa Debit (First Direct) and their visa offers.

11 packages left at 9am. HFP must be snapping them up.

      • The Doubletree in Woking is close to Woking station if you wanted to use the free transfer. Parking is limited though, unless you use the public car park nearby. It’s town centre of course. Hilton Cobham is more rural, but fine if you’re travelling by car (about 15-20 minutes drive to McLaren). It’s got family rooms and some nice grounds too, which should be enjoyable in July.

        • Martin N says:

Thanks Nick, I have stayed at the Woking DoubleTree (and even when it was the Holiday Inn) and parking there did seem to be an issue. The family rooms and free parkig (and pool!) at Cobham might just swing it for me. I am looking forward to the tour, it is a bargain at 25k points.

      • johnny_c-l says:

Hilton Cobham is a dump – avoid! Stayed there a few times for work events, some rooms are OK but most awful, lots of mold in the bathrooms and generally a poor Hilton.

    • Charlie says:

  10. Charlie says:

Great – thanks for making us all aware. I’ve grabbed a place and watched them shrink form 40 when I looked first thing to 15 now.

Nice to see some of you there. Does anyone know if a baby counts as a guest? Or are they too small to ‘count’ on the max. 4 people allowed?

  11. Double edged sword – hooray they’re doing it in the holidays, boo they’re doing it while we’re away on our hols (thanks Iberia 90k avios 🙂

How terribly inconsiderate of them, perhaps I missed their call checking on my availability before setting the date…

  12. rams1981 says:

thanks for this. Looking at terms can be 4 adults as well I think. Just says any child needs to be accompanied by an adult.

  13. SOLD OUT

  14. Shoestring says:

    sold out

  15. Arnaud Amiel says:

Thanks for the heads up. Living in Woking with a little boy who will just have been celebrating his birthday, this is perfect.
    Luckily, I booked early enough.

  16. Peter K says:

Thanks for that Rob. Looking forward to it.

  17. You’d think Hilton would email their members about these auction experiences and not have to find out afterwards from 3rd party websites

  18. Speaking about cars, UBER competitor Kapten launched in London, and giving %50 discount rides in London until end of the month.
For extra £10 , use code BULKOR while sign up, then use code HILONDON before your ride.

    • The quote from central London to Heathrow is £19. which is extremely cheap for a private hire.
