Qatar Airways has announced a global ‘free flights’ giveaway for teachers.

Here is the link you will need to register – click here – once applications open.

This follows the sucesss of their free flight giveaway for healthcare staff in May.  We had a few winners from amongst our readership:

Qatar Airways free tickets for teachers

and

Qatar Airways free tickets for teachers

…. and hopefully our readers will do as well with the new giveaway for teachers.  Please share this article with any teaching friends.

How does the Qatar Airways teacher giveaway work?

There are 21,000 return economy flights to be given away.

Winners can travel ANYWHERE on the Qatar Airways network.

The ticket allocation has been split across the 75 countries where Qatar Airways is currently flying, and split again across the three days of the campaign.

When and where do you register?

You can register here.

Registration opens at 2am (UK time) on Monday 5th October.  A second batch of tickets will be released at 2am on Tuesday and a third batch at 2am on Wednesday.

It is first come, first served, which is a little inconvenient given that you need to apply at 2am BST.  However, as the UK has its own unique ticket allocation, everyone is in the same boat.

Your chances will be higher on the first day as word will not have got around.

What do you win?

Each winner will receive ONE free economy class return ticket.  The winner will have to pay airport taxes and charges, however.

You can book for ANY destination on the Qatar Airways network, for travel up to 30th September 2021.

All winners will also receive a voucher for 50% off a Qatar Airways flight ticket.  This can be used by the winner for another trip or by a companion to accompany the winner.  Children aged under 12 cannot travel on a 50% off voucher.

Prize tickets, and tickets booked with a ‘50% off’ voucher, must be ticketed by 1st November 2020.

  • S879 says:

Wouldn’t accept captcha and just froze. Oh well.

  • Baji Nahid says:

I had a blue sticker stating that it would be reviewed under 48 hours? did anyone else this?

    • Alan says:

I got the same message. Fingers crossed!

    • Baji Nahid says:

I wonder if this means we got lucky or just a random luck of draw

      • Aron says:

        Well T&Cs state

“Promo codes are limited to 21,000 and are available on a first-come, first-served basis”

Depends on how many are allocated to each country. Might only allocate 200 or something to the UK.

        • Rob says:

75 countries BUT U.K. has disproportionately more Qatar flights so I imagine we get more seats. I am guessing nearer 200 per day, perhaps more.

They may also be allocated later pro rata to applications.

  • Laura says:

Will QTS certificate be sufficant as I am a qualified teacher but currently doing supply teaching at multiple agencies. Have to ca in on the day to find work or maybe a day earlier

  • BJ says:

Did the winners have to look like one of the ‘teachers’ in the PR photo?

  • Nick G says:

I give up if this is how it’s going to be….people with IT knowledge able to pre fill the form, others that fill in the form by 0201 and the allocation has gone. Doesn’t put me off Qatar or be happy for those that are successful. I’m out!

    • Peter K says:

Will there be that many IT savvy teachers in the UK going for it though?

      • Nick G says:

No idea! But when the captcha doesn’t work and seems stuck that’s about my limit! I won’t be getting up in the middle of the night again for it!

        • S879 says:

Same! I wake up anyway at 6am so waking up at 1:45am and not being able to sleep till 3am has been annoying. I’m good at my IT skills but captcha not working is beyond my troubleshooting skills!

  • EFL teacher says:

Wish i’d woken up earlier, just seen this and the quota for my country (Bulgaria) has already been reached…4am is a brutal starting time for this promo!

  • Steve says:

Any other teachers now sat at work knackered after setting an alarm to enter at 2am?! I managed to go back to sleep instantly but still feeling the effects lol…hoping I was successful as my form did submit, but I won’t be entering again as I value my sleep!

  • Aston100 says:

“Note that a valid employer ID must be presented at the airport at the point of check in.”
What triggers this? An alert on their screen when your passport and /or booking ref is entered?
What if you do online check in and go hand baggage only?

    • Rob says:

Easy enough to put a marker in your booking which needs to be removed by staff before you can board, whether at check-in or at the gate.
