News: British Airways drops Buenos Aires direct, American Airlines buys Finnair Heathrow slots

News in brief:

British Airways drops direct flights to Buenos Aires

British Airways has dropped direct flights to Buenos Aires for next Summer. In a throwback to how the route used to operated, the aircraft will fly from Heathrow to Sao Paulo and then continue onwards.

On the upside, the flight is currently rostered as an A350. This means that business class passengers can pass the extra time in the comfort of the new Club Suite seat. Our comprehensive guide to Club Suite is here.

American Airlines buys Heathrow slots from Finnair

American Airlines is launching a new service to Seattle from London Heathrow in Summer 2021, beginning at the end of March.

The slots have come from Finnair, which has surrendered one of its seven daily slot pairs. The slot transfer has been registered as ‘permanent’ which implies that American has paid good money for it.

There will now be 33 weekly flights between Heathrow and Seattle, spread between Delta, Virgin Atlantic, British Airways and American Airlines.
