Samuel Ryder Hotel in St Albans joins Hilton’s Tapestry brand

Hilton’s Tapestry Collection brand will soon get its first hotel in the UK.
The Samuel Ryder Hotel in St Albans will be a rebranding of the existing Clarion Collection Hotel St Albans, which going back even further was a Choice Hotel.
Tapestry Collection is similar to Hilton’s Curio Collection, but is aimed at smaller hotels in smaller towns. We covered the recent opening of a 46-room Madrid hotel – the first Tapesty Collection hotel in Europe. Samuel Ryder is of a similar scale with 60 rooms.
To quote the website:
“This grade II listed St Albans landmark building was built in 1911 by Samuel Ryder, donor of golf’s prestigious Ryder Cup, to house the business of his successful seed company. It retains many original features including leaded light room screens, sweeping staircase and a magnificent mahogany and stained glass dome.”
The date for the switch is not yet known and the hotel is not yet bookable on hilton.com.
