There are strong rumours tonight that American Express is about to launch a £200 dining credit for The Platinum Card holders.

You will receive 100% back when you spend at participating restaurants, up to a cumulative £200. Centurion cardholders will receive a £400 credit.

The offer will run from tomorrow until the end of 2021.

EDIT Wed AM: This offer is now live and you can add it via the ‘Offers’ section of your card.

The participating restaurants are here.

If you’re in London, you’re laughing. The list of restaurants is simply outstanding, from 3-star Michelin restaurants through to more casual groups such as The Ivy.

The Ivy Harrogate is pictured above – there are a fair number of non-London restaurants included although there do seem to be big geographic gaps.

There are over 1,000 participating restaurants across 15 countries. Here is a random London selection for the letter ‘B’:

  • Bagatelle
  • Balthazar
  • Bar des Pres
  • Bluebird
  • Benares
  • Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill
  • Bob Bob Ricard
  • Brasserie Zedel
  • Bread Street Kitchen
  • Butlers Wharf Chophouse

…. and that is just ‘B’.

Full details should be released on Wednesday, but you can look at the restaurant list here.

Oooh – Bob Bob Richard, I love their Champagne button!

Any suggestions for cocktails? Kosher diet so restaurants don’t really help!

Wow! They have an Ivy restaurant in Birmingham, Alabama as well. Who would’ve thought that?

Off to Barcelona next week and there looks to be a lovely restaurant there. Am I right in saying then if I use my Platinum to pay then there will be such a thing as a comida gratis!

Biggest cock up of the year, applied for gold credit for 32k bonus points, forgoing platinum bonus of 65k points + possible retention points + £200 free munchies

  • Degsy says:

Whilst not knocking the promotion/offer which looks fantastic, this really illustrates what the ‘Levelling-up’ challenge is, ie everything in this country is so London-centric – Boris ought to adopt this as one of his measures for the success of his initiative.

    • tony says:

Seriously? Or is it just that the London restaurants are dominated by the chains by virtue of stupidly high overheads. You can as a result get far better food for a fraction of the price outside of London because 25% of the bill isn’t going just to pay for the roof over your head.

    • Mike says:

Degsy- I agree, there is nothing in Doncaster at all.
