There are strong rumours tonight that American Express is about to launch a £200 dining credit for The Platinum Card holders.

You will receive 100% back when you spend at participating restaurants, up to a cumulative £200. Centurion cardholders will receive a £400 credit.

The offer will run from tomorrow until the end of 2021.

EDIT Wed AM: This offer is now live and you can add it via the ‘Offers’ section of your card.

The participating restaurants are here.

If you’re in London, you’re laughing. The list of restaurants is simply outstanding, from 3-star Michelin restaurants through to more casual groups such as The Ivy.

The Ivy Harrogate is pictured above – there are a fair number of non-London restaurants included although there do seem to be big geographic gaps.

There are over 1,000 participating restaurants across 15 countries. Here is a random London selection for the letter ‘B’:

  • Bagatelle
  • Balthazar
  • Bar des Pres
  • Bluebird
  • Benares
  • Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill
  • Bob Bob Ricard
  • Brasserie Zedel
  • Bread Street Kitchen
  • Butlers Wharf Chophouse

…. and that is just ‘B’.

Full details should be released on Wednesday, but you can look at the restaurant list here.

I should have said – I’ve had convos with Amex agents about this. They said that a new app is in the works too. I only spoke to them as I queried the fact that you once used to be able to book restaurants via the app directly so was wondering what’s up.

  • Alex says:

Between the supermarket credit and this it might have paid for this year’s card. I’ll give them another 12 months in December to up their game. Oh and champagne from Harrods and a suite at the JW Marriott Park Lane, but I maybe wouldn’t have bought those if I didn’t have the offers.

Hopefully some of the improvements rumoured in 2019 actually materialise, but they’ve just got themselves a stay of cancellation from me if this promotion comes out.

  • Craig says:

Just made two speculative bookings, The Ivy in Cambridge which fits in nicely with this weeks trip and The Ninth in London for when we are at the Fitzroy for my birthday,

  • Bill says:

This is a timely offer. I’m in London this week visiting with the kids and my wife. So I have just booked Friday evening in Kensington after our visit to the Natural History museum. Thanks go to Emyr for his help booking the Grosvenor House on Park Lane last weekend. We only stayed for one night and my 6 year old took a shine to the Maitre D in the Park Room. He asked her to marry. Haha. She was very kind in her reply. 😁 Looking forward to using the Amex offer on Friday

Nothing in Doncaster ! – darn it

  • n_g says:

Nice surprise but I wish my local Ivy was on the list of participating restaurants.

    • TGLoyalty says:

It might be listed under USA or some other country like Birmingham

  • Waddle says:

Anything similar coming for Biz Plat holders?

  • Richard H says:

Wonder if supplementary cardholders will each get the credit too…?

    • VerdantBacon says:

I doubt they will make that mistake twice, but I’m also hopeful!
