Qatar Airways to bring back its London Gatwick service from June

Qatar Airways has announced that it is returning to London Gatwick from 5th June.
The airline will offer a daily flight using a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. This does not feature Qsuite but – as we reviewed here – Qatar’s 787-8 business class seat is pretty good too.
It is a shame that Qatar Airways is not taking the opportunity to bring its new 787-9 aircraft to Gatwick, featuring an updated version of Qsuite as we covered here.

The flight will operate alongside the current daily Gatwick to Doha flight offered by British Airways, which has a joint venture with Qatar Airways on the route.
From 5th June, Qatar Airways will be offering:
- 35 flights per week from Heathrow
- 7 flights per week from Gatwick
- 18 flights per week from Manchester
- 7 flights per week from Edinburgh
As a member of oneworld, you earn Avios and British Airways Executive Club tier points when you fly with Qatar Airways. If you are heading to Asia, Qatar Airways is far more lucrative than flying with BA. The aircraft change in Doha means you earn four lots of 140 tier points per return flight in Business Class.
Qatar Airways is about to adopt Avios for its own Qatar Privilege Club loyalty programme. We hope to learn more about how this will work in the next week.
