Air France and KLM move into the Heathrow Terminal 3 Club Aspire lounge

It’s beginning to look like Air France and KLM are hunkering down in Heathrow Terminal 3 with no plans to return to Terminal 4.

This makes sense, of course. Now that the two airlines have joined the Virgin Atlantic and Delta Air Lines transatlantic joint venture, there will be many customers transiting from short haul to long haul. Making them transfer between terminals was never going to be a good look.

SkyTeam announced some time ago that it had permanently closed its huge alliance-wide lounge in Terminal 4, which was a good hint that Air France and KLM were not going back.

Air France and KLM have now announced a deal with the Club Aspire lounge in Heathrow Terminal 3. All business class and SkyTeam elite members flying on the two airlines will be invited to use the lounge.

Whilst good news for Air France and KLM passengers, it is bad news for Priority Pass, DragonPass and LoungeKey cardholders. With a large influx of SkyTeam passengers throughout the day it will be increasingly difficult to gain entry using a lounge club membership card.

If you are not travelling in Business Class and don’t have airline status, your other options in Heathrow Terminal 3 are:

I suppose we should be grateful that the Club Aspire lounge still exists at all. The owners of Club Aspire recently bought No1 Lounges and, at Gatwick North, have chosen to permanently close the Club Aspire lounge to focus on No1 and its sister lounges. It seems that Club Aspire and No1 will co-exist in Terminal 3.

we should run a book on how long it takes a tabloid to publish a story of how someone ended up in LA instead of Toronto because they booked “Ontario”

    I’m sure it will happen.

    • ChrisC says:

What like the people who ended up in Sydney Nova Scotia or Grenada instead of Granada and vice versa?

      • Rhys says:

I once booked flights to San Jose Costa Rica, only I had accidentally booked flights to San Jose California. This despite telling myself about a million times to double check the airport code.

I spotted it 24 hours before departure and American Airlines very kindly moved my flight at no extra cost – not even a difference in fare!

  • Robert Brooks says:

I am probably the only person thinking that Chicago-Rockford is a great idea. Last time I went to Rochelle, IL, which is about an hour and a half West of ORD, landed there about 1930, and didn’t get away from the rental place until nearly 2300. Absolute nightmare!

  • Jay-Marc says:

John Wayne Airport might have been a better location for many than Ontario. John Wayne seems to have no scheduled international flights at the moment outside of Canada but they have handled Mexican flights in the past.

    • ChrisC says:

ONT already has international arrivals so CBP are already there.

Because of pre clearance Canada arrivals count as domestic.

John Wayne hasn’t had any Arrivals from Mexico for several years. Even if Norse asked them the CBP likely said no to allowing them to fly there because of the inefficient use of CBP officers.

  • JDB says:

My wife is playing in a golf competition in Geneva, Wisconsin which is a lot nearer Rockford than ORD but the suggestion of going on Norse that would save her a lot of time and me a lot vs paying for her BA F ticket has not gone down well…

I have an flight on AF in nov and its currently showing as T4, likely to change?

  • LG says:

BWI – Baltimore Washington International is much better placed for downtown DC than Dulles. It has an efficient and swift train service – rather than the bus/Metro option at Dulles.
