You will receive 100,000 bonus Avios – on top of the already generous Avios welcome bonuses – when you join Premier Banking with Barclays Awards Rewards and take out the Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card.

Yes, you receive 100,000 Avios as an extra bonus. You also get the standard bonuses of 25,000 Avios for taking out the Avios Plus credit card and 25,000 Avios for joining Premier Banking with Barclays Avios Rewards (T&C apply).

These deals end on Wednesday 30th November 2022.

Review: the Barclaycard Select Cashback credit card

If you already have one of these products, you will receive 100,000 Avios for taking out the one you don’t have. This means, astonishingly, that an existing Premier Banking with Barclays Avios Rewards customer will get 100,000 bonus Avios just for getting the Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card – on top of the standard 25,000 Avios for applying.

125,000 Avios for getting a credit card …. if you turn them into Nectar points (one of the poorer options) those Avios are still worth a guaranteed £833.

We published four articles which outline these offers in detail. Click the link below to read the article which applies to you.

100,000 Avios Barclays Premier and Barclaycard offers

Can I still apply with just three days left?

Yes you can, but you need to move swiftly. If you are totally new to Barclays, it is going to be tight. You need to apply for both products and we recommend not applying for Barclays Premier with Barclays Avios Rewards until you are certain you have been approved for the Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card.

The information we share below has been approved by Barclays:

Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card

You must have submitted your application by 30th November. It doesn’t matter if your application is not approved immediately – you will still be treated as having applied by the deadline even if it takes a few days to approve you.

Barclays Premier

You must begin your application by 30th November. If you are asked to attend a branch to verify your ID, this is not an issue. The system will recognise that your original application was made by 30th November, even if your ID verification slot is pushed into December or later.

You can find out more about this offer on the Barclays website here.

  • Sergio says:

Don’t think this has been asked (yet)!! I’m not new to Barclays, been with them for 45+ years. HFP site says “Joining Premier Banking with Barclays Avios Rewards (£12 monthly fee)”. I’ve looked through the Barclays site and it seems to indicate that Premier Banking has a £20 monthly fee and then Barclays Avios Rewards has the £12 monthly fee. Do i need to register for Premier Banking, it is not very clear?

    • Rob says:

Premier Banking does not have a £20 fee. There is only a fee if your salary drops below £75k, in which case you can opt to pay £20 rather than being thrown out. You cannot get in initially by paying £20.

    • Richard says:

But yes, you do need to open a Premier current account because Avios Rewards is only open to Premier (or Wealth) customers. So if you don’t have an income of £75K (or have £100K invested with Barclays), this offer is not open to you.

    • Fionn G says:

So I just noticed this on an email from Barclays today. I’m a brand new customer and signed up last week for the premier banking and avios credit card. I got accepted and meet the criteria that makes you eligible. My understanding from reading about the offer was I would pay the £20 a month for the premier banking but the email I received today stated “ As a new Premier customer, we’ll waive this fee for the first 12 months from the date you join.” So assuming I put my salary in there, no fee at all? Am I correct here?

      • Richard says:

You won’t have to pay the £20/month fee for having a Premier current account, and as long as you continue to meet the criteria they will “waive” the fee again when they review it in 12 months’ time. (I was told it would be 6 months, not 12, but the same principle applies.)

However there is a £12/mo fee for Avios Rewards (you’ve remembered to sign up for that, right?) and a £20/mo fee for the credit card, BUT you get £5/mo back as a reward for having both. So it will cost you a grand total of £27/mo overall.

  • slidey says:

How do you activate avios rewards once you have a premier account?

I opened it online, have acct number and sort code but I cant access it via the app as I have no activation code and cant login online as it wants to use the app?

  • Robert Spree says:

This article says “You must begin your application by 30th November.” – has anyone had this confirmed by Barclays?
I applied last week for the Premier account, received an e-mail asking me to provide ID at a branch but can’t get an appointment (2 branches have told me this is done by appointment only) and no local branch appears to have any appointments until January!

    • Robert Spree says:

Sorry, meant to add that 2 separate people on the Premier banking line have told me the account opening must be completed by 30th November and that awaiting ID verification is not sufficient to retain qualification for the offer.

      • Rob says:

Not true. If it was true Barclays would have pulled the offer weeks ago since you can’t do anything in London until next year in some cases.

        • Robert Spree says:

          Thank Rob.
Was hoping it was just a case of miss-informed staff (especially as the literature doesn’t appear clear).

  • YH says:

I have reached the ID verification in branch stage of the sign-up for the Premier account.

Do I need to have the appointment booking made before the 30th Nov? As in, do I need to make the phone call to organise an appointment for say January 2023 before 30th Nov?

I’m currently abroad so making phone calls is quite expensive and don’t want to burn £2/min on hold.

    • Rob says:

You’re now into levels of detail no-one has considered, unfortunately. If I were you I’d buy a bit of Skype credit.

    • baVid says:

I can’t speak to the question, but I think the number is 0800 which will be free when called from the Skype app. You may need to set the Skype app Caller ID to your own mobile number in the settings so it isn’t an anonymous caller ID as some banks reject calls from such numbers.

  • Gillian Wilson says:

Feeling sad. I thought i could apply for the bank account but only those earning £75K can. I do earn over this gross but as i take part in a variety of company share schemes and make additional pension contributions (to maximise tax benefits) my net pay does not reflect that. Ah well….

    • Rob says:

You’ll be fine. Declare your gross pay and if they question you down the line just supply the necessary supporting info for deductions.

  • Sam says:

Hi Rob, I already have the Barclaycard Premium Plus Avios card. I actually received an e-mail from Barclays with this offer in the last week or so. My question is (just to make sure), I apply for the Barclays Premier account so I am option 2 above? is it just applying before 30 Nov (and then you can do the switch after) to get the 100k avios? Thank you!

  • T says:

So I have no 100k avios email? Should I be worried? My accounts do not appear to be linked. There was no way to apply for a Barclays account from the Barclaycard app. Nor was there when I added my Barclaycard to the Barclays app and in the end I ended up with two apps.

  • Dan Dodex says:

Opened both credit card and premier current account on the app, the ID was checked on the app by uploading a couple of photos. Now, a few weeks later I am blocked from the app, and on the online chat I am told I have to go into branch with two forms of ID, as it is a condition of opening the current account, and I should have done it within 14 days. Is that correct? Anyone else?

    • K says:

Think about it, why would you be bothered when they treat you like this? would you accept this treatment for any other application?

      • Dan Dodex says:

I won’t. I was planning to move my main current account to them, so glad I had not started the process yet. So far this has been the worst experience I have ever had with a bank in my whole life. Several problems with an additional card not working online, the app randomly stopping working on my phone and now this. I have spend too long on the phone with them already. I am getting the 100,000 avios and closing both barclaycard and current account. “Premier”?

    • R76 says:

That sounds like nonsense to me – if they hadn’t completed KYC (in other words, hadn’t verified your ID and done some other background checks) then I don’t think they would have opened the account in the first place.

If you can still be bothered, you could call 0800 085 1115, which will get you through to a Premier-specific advisor who is much more likely to be able to work out what’s actually going on.

I agree with your comment, this is by far the least premier experience I have ever had with any bank. The previous crown was held by HSBC and their “Safeguard” shambles, but Barclays have somehow managed to top even that. Meanwhile my bog-standard Nationwide FlexDirect account just keeps on working.
