100,000 Avios Barclays Premier and Barclaycard offers

Can I still apply with just three days left?

Yes you can, but you need to move swiftly. If you are totally new to Barclays, it is going to be tight. You need to apply for both products and we recommend not applying for Barclays Premier with Barclays Avios Rewards until you are certain you have been approved for the Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card.

The information we share below has been approved by Barclays:

Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card

You must have submitted your application by 30th November. It doesn’t matter if your application is not approved immediately – you will still be treated as having applied by the deadline even if it takes a few days to approve you.

Barclays Premier

You must begin your application by 30th November. If you are asked to attend a branch to verify your ID, this is not an issue. The system will recognise that your original application was made by 30th November, even if your ID verification slot is pushed into December or later.

You can find out more about this offer on the Barclays website here.

  • Kevin Lee says:

Managed to get Avios+ CC approved. Applied for Barclays Premier via the App. ID process unsuccessful so went into branch to see if they would fit me in as a ‘walk in’. Miraculously there was no queue but the agent said the process would take an hour so had to book me an appt! Earliest they can offer is 10 Dec.

  • Chancer says:

I’m really looking forward to this being over with. Will be nice to see something else at the top of the home screen when visiting the site. I hope it has worked out well for some people, but based on my limited and vicarious experience of Barclays courtesy of my wife, I wish all brave participants luck.

    • Rob says:

Yes, will be nice to free up the top of the home page again.

One thing about Barclays – they are well ahead of everyone else we deal with in terms of paying their bills promptly and to a fixed schedule. Full credit to them for that. There are two household names who still owe us four figure sums from November 2021 and January 2022 respectively.

      • Chancer says:

I am pleased to hear that, and it more than makes up for the inconvenience as without your business running well there might not otherwise be a top of the page for us to look at. I respect your business model.

My wife’s story is that she received an instant approval without any agg. for the paid card, with a £15k credit limit, despite being a ‘homemaker’. The card arrived quickly and all was well until receiving a letter about the lounge access. It stated that keeping the card open beyond a certain date about three weeks hence, would automatically mean her data being shared with outside companies. She did not want or need the paid lounge access, and having been stung in previous data breaches (BA and Equifax mainly) reluctantly had to lose the card as there was no opt-out available.

Then commenced a three week battle trying to get them to downgrade the card, which she was told was possible more than once but it never happened, and then it went to the wire and after several fruitless calls just managed to get it closed about a day before the deadline. Sad thing is she actually wanted the card long-term, or at least to downgrade, but when she explained the issue no remedy or flexibility was given.

Fine enough card when all goes well anyway, but telephonic customer service quality severely lacking until the very last person that she dealt with, who was about the tenth or twelfth person. Funny thing is, virtually everybody she spoke with was English. I heard some of the calls, and their voices aside their operating style reminded me of the useless Hilton Honors email agents.

  • Rhys says:

Thought I would update you with my experience so far. Applied for Credit Card on 22/11 and was successful. Yet to receive the card because of the Royal Mail strikes but know i have received it. I downloaded the app to apply for the premier account on the same day. Hit a snag with the identity check and am waiting for a posted code. Still not arrived by 28/11 so started an online application. This generated a reference but again needed an ID check in store. Went to a branch yesterday. No one in except one couple with the one person who is able to do the check. I offered to wait but they said I will need an appointment. Made an appointment for the 17/12.

After reading on here I rang the premier banking line to see if they could give me the code that was meant to be posted so I could complete an application prior to the 30th. He hadn’t heard of that and initially thought it might be a scam as its so unusual to do anything by snail mail. The guy was really helpful, and I spent about 1 hour on the phone with him trying to sort stuff out. He soke to his colleagues and said that some of the premier banking teams have been told that many people are facing delays applying to the products due to ID checks. He said they had been told that so long as the application has been started, they would give the 100,000. He put a note/complaint on my profile to say that I had been trying to apply but the ID checks had delayed things – sent me a reference number. He said this should mean that I get the 100,000 bonus.

May be worth calling the premier banking line to log issues if you have been trying to apply but hit delays.

  • Louie says:

Made a last minute decision (as an existing Premier customer) to go for this. Switched on Avios Rewards OK and got instant approval for the credit card. Should I be able to see the credit card in the app now (i.e. same day)?

  • Felipe says:

How long it usually takes to get approved to the Premier account via app? I just applied after finally getting a successful Avios Plus card (third time always works right?).

  • Sam says:

Further to my post above, after going in branch, I opened the account there. There was some toing and froing regarding the ID requirements but the poor branch manager was getting no end of people coming in opening Premier accounts due to this Avios reward. I understand why Barclays have put on this offer but they make a rod for their back – the staff in the branches don’t like it and some have no clue and the staff on the telephone banking line have no idea to operate it/assist with this.

  • Sergio says:

I have successfully applied for the card and as I was already a premier customer I was able to go into my Barclays app and add the Avios Plus. Now just waiting for the card to arrive. One thing…. I’ve checked all the T/C’s and cannot see anything about any minimum spend to qualify for the 100,000 Avios, just that the card has to be kept active for at least four months. Too good to be true!

  • KC says:

I managed to sign up for both the barclays credit card and premier banking by the 25th of November, but wasnt able to Switch on Barclays avios rewards because I havent received my bank card in the post yet in order to register on the app, and I couldnt switch it on over the phone. I spent a long time on the phone with Barclays and they inidcated that althought it wasnt my fault and there was nothing I could do I wouldnt be eligable for the 100,000 points as I hadnt turned on the avios rewards in sufficient time. Does anybody know if this is correct? The article seems to indicate that I only need to have started the application process for the premier account. Any insight welcome!

    • Gordon says:

Not correct, As long as you open a premier account annd meet the criteria and apply for a Barclaycard plus and are excepted before midnight on the 30th November that’s all you need to have done.
Call them again or pop into a branch and explain, Maybe you will get someone that knows what they are talking about this time. Tbh a lot of the Barclays team don’t know what’s what.

      • KC says:

Thanks! I spoke to someone else and they are now checking with the Barclays team to see if they will make an exception. Finger crossed!
