You will receive 100,000 bonus Avios – on top of the already generous Avios welcome bonuses – when you join Premier Banking with Barclays Awards Rewards and take out the Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card.

Yes, you receive 100,000 Avios as an extra bonus. You also get the standard bonuses of 25,000 Avios for taking out the Avios Plus credit card and 25,000 Avios for joining Premier Banking with Barclays Avios Rewards (T&C apply).

These deals end on Wednesday 30th November 2022.

Review: the Barclaycard Select Cashback credit card

125,000 Avios for getting a credit card …. if you turn them into Nectar points (one of the poorer options) those Avios are still worth a guaranteed £833.

100,000 Avios Barclays Premier and Barclaycard offers

Can I still apply with just three days left?

Yes you can, but you need to move swiftly. If you are totally new to Barclays, it is going to be tight. You need to apply for both products and we recommend not applying for Barclays Premier with Barclays Avios Rewards until you are certain you have been approved for the Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card.

The information we share below has been approved by Barclays:

Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card

You must have submitted your application by 30th November. It doesn’t matter if your application is not approved immediately – you will still be treated as having applied by the deadline even if it takes a few days to approve you.

Barclays Premier

You must begin your application by 30th November. If you are asked to attend a branch to verify your ID, this is not an issue. The system will recognise that your original application was made by 30th November, even if your ID verification slot is pushed into December or later.

You can find out more about this offer on the Barclays website here.

  • Toto says:

Thanks Rob, I followed your advice and opened Premier acounts and Avios+ CC for myself and the wife. 2 x 100k welcome email confirmed!
Timing worked out perfectly since I cancelled my Hilton card in April, which allowed me to apply for Avios+ card scrapping thru the 6month window but before the current offer closed.

Wasn’t all plain sailing initially though because the remote ID verification wasnt working on the app, so had to visit the branch and was told next available appointment is January!
Luckily was able to squeeze in a walk in.
Interstingly…my wife got the 100k confirmation email even before she completed the current account switch request…will get that done tomorrow just in case

  • Frustrated Customer says:

I think Barclay’s might be the worst bank ever. It looks like nothing works, the branch has the longest queues on the street. The service center is more useless than BAs. Apps are just wrong. Lots of different errors. They can’t even correctly write terms and conditions. The 100k offer has 3-4 main points. How difficult is it to make it right and easy to understand? This 100k Avios offer is very fast proving to be not worth it.

  • ianM says:

I agree with Frustrated Customer above, I had waited until last minute in the hope that things would have improved, but I went into a Branch yesterday to make sure an application went well. After the Barclays guys walked me through downloading the new Barclays app, he only succeeded in screwing up my existing Avios Plus CC app. OMFG don’t think it’s worth the hassle

    • Frustrated Customer says:

Yeah, my Barclaycard app is returning error 00002 since yesterday, and, of course, I selected a new customer when applying for the account, and, surprise surprise, it obviously didn’t match my accounts (although unless the error 00002 is unrelated, it looks like there is something happening in the background) and I didn’t get the email about the 100k points. So now I have to call amazing Barclay’s customer service twice. Might as well just cancel the whole thing, take the hit on the credit score for nothing, and don’t bother. If something, I’ve learned not to even look at Barclay’s when going around. It’s not like my current bank is amazing but it deserves 5 stars compared to what I have so far experienced with B.

      • T says:

So how did you get it linked? I also have two accounts. Chat are telling me I need to stand on one hoop and jump through a leg because apparently my mothers maiden name (go figure that this is important) is not on my Barclaycard CIS

  • Sam says:

Waiting in a branch now as despite being a Barclaycard customer since the summer, they need my ID. OMFG too, the level of incompetence is on another level. This is after speaking to two people over the telephone who couldn’t sort it either.

  • Stuart B says:

Just adding my experience to those of others that have struggled. Complete farce of a process. Wasted 6+ hours and the result is that this company is now blacklisted in my eyes. No amount of avios would tempt me back. The contempt they feel for their customers is mind boggling.

Issue is that when I looked to apply a few months back they said the process would take 15 minutes using the app so I felt confident deprioritising. Couldn’t have been further from the truth.

Three friends all wanted to open a new account to get an avios incentive. It failed for all three of us, insisting it can’t match our ID with our address. You have to call the call centre (20 minute wait) and then book an appointment in branch for them to verify your iD. Earliest available appointment? April 2023 (5 months time!!).

I was also advised to have a go at the local branch, where I was told they don’t offer ID checking services, and since 3 weeks ago only 2 or 3 branches in the whole of South London are allowed to do so. So three branches for about 3 million people. No wonder there are no appointments!

Telephone operators suggested trying again ‘as often as you like’ in the app to get the online ID checking service to work – it doesn’t. And you have to give it about 100 pieces of information before it fails.

I know the info I am giving is accurate because I have the same credit report that Barclays checks against up on my screen, and because I’ve opened mortgages and current accounts with 3 different banks in the past year seamlessly.

If they don’t want any new customers, why not just say instead of wasting hours of folks’ time. Every member of staff I spoke to looked utterly defeated and agreed that their systems are unfit for purpose. A damning indictment indeed.

I’m closing my barclaycard and will never use another Barclays product again. Life’s too short to be treated like this.

  • Dace says:

I have an issue in that my credit card with agreed and stated the limit when I did the application yesterday. However, I still do not have a confirmation email.

Is this an issue? The card is also not showing in my Premier account.

    • Gordon says:

You will be ok as I called Barclays premier today and they said once the application is in progress that’s good enough you don’t need to have the card showing on the app or in your possession. Believe me I’ve been thought everything regarding this offer just to make sure. Call them and get them to log the call to confirm that you are on the treadmill so to speak.

      • Gordon says:

My Barclays app says delivery of Barclaycard plus card on 12/12 which is my next billing period.

        • Dace says:

Thanks Gordon. You prompted me to check the documents area of the app and it does appear I have a contract in there that loaded yesterday. Appears it must’ve gone through.

    • Sergio says:

I received the confirmation email about a day and a half after receiving the confirmation email from Barclays (applied 26th November) and my card appeared on my Barclays Banking app this morning .

  • BSI1978 says:

Quite possible that I was ‘lucky’ but have managed to apply for and open both an Avios Plus CC and Premier account (credit limit and bank account details showing in app) within 40 minutes from the comfort of my sofa before heading out for the game.

Was a bit dubious given the horror stories above, and moreover having been rejected for the former earlier in the year.

…..now I’m being cocky I’ll likely face a battle tracking the actual bonus Avios in 4 months time!

    • Gordon says:

Well you certainly left it until the 11th hour but I’m sure you will be ok. Come on England.

  • Julie says:

I have left it too late as well, I have the Barclaycard app but need the Barclays app, id not working, forgot it took forever last time. Rookie error, oh well!
