Radisson’s growing Radisson RED chain has arrived in the north of England with the opening of Radisson RED Liverpool.

This looks like a high profile opening for the city, with the hotel occupying a building on Lime Street which was one of the original Victorian railway hotels, connected to the station. Opened in 1871, it has seen little use except as student accommodation in recent years.

The architect was Alfred Waterhouse who also designed London’s Natural History Museum.

Extensive renovation works have, apparently, included the restoration of a 19th century stained glass window and an imposing sandstone staircase. The original turrets and spires have also been restored.

There are 201 rooms and suites, with a ‘farm-to-fork’ restaurant called Stoke. A 1960s-style scooter and sidecar, as well as a submarine sculpture, are on display in a nod to the Beatles.

It does look impressive and we may see if we can take a look. The Radisson RED Liverpool website is here.

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards (April 2024)

Radisson Rewards does not have a dedicated UK credit card. However, you can earn Radisson Rewards points by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.

These cards earn Membership Rewards points:

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:3 into Radisson Rewards points which is a very attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 3 Radisson Rewards points.

Even better, holders of The Platinum Card receive free Radisson Rewards Premium status for as long as they hold the card.  It also comes with Hilton Honors Gold, Marriott Bonvoy Gold and MeliaRewards Gold status.  We reviewed American Express Platinum in detail here.
