Decent Finnair business class flight deal to Delhi

Finnair, a partner of British Airways in the oneworld airline alliance, is offering some good deals to Delhi in Business Class.

You can travel at any point in the next year. Availability is scattered but Finnair has an excellent website which shows you the price for every date in its calendar – you will know the price before you’ve selected dates.

From London, the price is £1,563 return.

It is cheaper from other European starting points, with the cheapest being Budapest at €1,260 (£1,100).

You need to note that these are ‘Business Light’ fares. You do NOT get airport lounge access, priority security, priority boarding ….. nothing except your seat.

The exception is BA Silver and Gold cardholders and equivalents, who get lounge access and other benefits as part of their oneworld status.

It terms of British Airways tier points, you would earn 80 + 140 + 140 + 80 = 440 tier points return if you started in London. You earn fewer tier points if you fly from outside the UK to Helsinki (the UK number is inflated for historical reasons) with the short haul legs only earning 40 tier points each way.

Whilst you are not guaranteed to get it, here is our review of the impressive new Finnair business class seat, image below. The old seat isn’t bad either – I would still prefer it to British Airways Club World, albeit not Club Suite.

As you are charged in £ for UK departures, the best way to pay is with Amex Gold. This earns double points (2 per £1) on airline transactions, and as you are paying in Sterling you won’t be impacted by Amex’s 3% FX fee. Our new 2023 review of American Express Preferred Rewards Gold was published today.

With Hilton, to get the 5-4-4, can I book each night individually as they become available, or do I need to wait for a run of 5 and then book them together (but by that time some of the nights might not be available on points). Cheers!

    • Rob says:

Need to book them altogether unfortunately.

      • BlueLabel says:

Thanks Rob. Do you happen to know if it’s worth booking the first 4 individually, and then release them when the 5th night comes up and quickly snap up the run of 5, or does the inventory not come back in straight away? Or could it be done over the phone to Hilton? Ta

        • Rob says:

No idea, don’t think I’ve ever heard of this being done and I don’t know that the policy is on released nights going back.

    • TGLoyalty says:

Could book individually then cancel and rebook as one (hoping they go back into inventory)

  • Somchai says:

According to FT there are many “enhancements” coming to Finnair such as no more Bubbles in Fussiness and reduced meal offerings.
