Crowne Plaza Lille hotel to join Hilton next month

If you’ve ever taken the Eurostar to Lille, you have probably seen the Crowne Plaza hotel which sits above the station.

I’ve stayed here a couple of times – admittedly not for a while now – and liked it, especially the bronze tiling in the bathrooms which mirrors the bronze cladding on the exterior. Whilst it’s not directly in the centre of Lille, it is a sensible place to stay if travelling by Eurostar.

Hilton Lille hotel

The hotel is switching brands on 1st November and will become Hilton Lillesee the website here.

The message at the top of the home page implies that it may trade as ‘Hotel Lille Euralille’ for a period whilst it adopts to Hilton standards, although it seems that Hilton Honors benefits will be respected and points earned.

It remains bookable on the IHG website as a Crowne Plaza until 30th October. IHG retains a Holiday Inn Express in the city centre, which is – at weekends – more expensive than the Crowne Plaza.

How to earn Hilton Honors points and status from UK credit cards

How to earn Hilton Honors points and status from UK credit cards (April 2025)

There are various ways of earning Hilton Honors points from UK credit and debit cards.  Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.

There are two dedicated Hilton Honors debit cards. These are especially attractive when spending abroad due to the 0% or 0.5% FX fee, depending on card.

You also receive FREE Hilton Honors status for as long as you hold the debit cards – Gold status with the Plus card and Silver status with the basic card. This is a great reason to apply even if you rarely use it.

We reviewed the Hilton Honors Plus Debit Card here and the Hilton Honors Debit Card here.

You can apply for either card here.

  • Al_Wiltshire says:

There may be multiple offers, but the one I have (as do a couple of forum posters) is £300 off a £2000 spend.

  • Marko says:

Rob – will you review the newly-opened Peninsula and Raffles The Owo in London?

    • Rob says:

Unlikely, they are running at high occupancy despite £1250+ room rates. Not sure they need us.

  • Grumpy Chicken 81 says:

Just been in to check this and noticed I’ve been offered £300 of a £2,000 spend with Qatar Airways – happy bunny as I want to go to Qatar this winter anyway.

  • JRich says:

No cash back again! AMEX hates me…

    • Gordon says:

If you feel hated now, just wait for their announcement!

      • Chabuddy Geezy says:

Hmm perhaps they will cut earn rates like in Australia

      • Ben says:

        What announcement?

        • Gordon says:

Following their turn around on pro rata refunds there is change in the air. Rob’s posting language over the last week or so gives it away!

  • Andrew J says:

Can confirm the offer is actually spend £2000 (not £3000), get £300 back.

  • BajanNation says:

Does the World of Hyatt offer of spend £250 for £100 back include their restaurants? I have it on my Platinum. Not clear from T&Cs.

    • TGLoyalty says:

Only if the restaurant is billed by the actual hotel system

    • Rob says:

If charged to room, yes. If not it depends if the restaurant uses the same credit card account as the front desk. If the card receipt has the restaurant name and not the hotel name you’re stuffed.

    • aseftel says:

If you ask nicely, a hotel may agree to set you up to bill spend to a virtual room, which you would check out as normal at a front desk. More likely to agree if you are planning to visit a number of outlets (e.g. spa, bar, restaurant).

  • Pogonation says:

I also got a £200 off £800 Etihad spend as well. Not sure if this was mentioned on any other posts.

  • Paul says:

Qatar offer useless to me as you must start in the UK. I was looking to switch a one way HAN LHR in Jan to cash but will stick with the Avios booking.

These multiple airline offers clearest sign yet that the market has softened and they are seeking ways to discount flight without actually discounting them. Hopefully this won’t work and fares will have to be reduced substantially in coming months.
