-
Hi, i have booked to fly to LA next month using my amex 2-4-1 voucher with my girlfriend. Unfortunately my father has fallen ill (been diagnosed with cancer) so i wont be able to make the trip.
Can anything be done here with these flights, is it possible to get a refund or rebook them? Or will i just have to lose out on everything we’ve paid?
Thanks

You can cancel and get everything back (Avios, cash & voucher)less £35pp cancellation fee. You can then rebook subject to availability and the validity of the voucher. If you have the Amex Plat insurance, you may be able to claim to postpone the trip and not require the availability and claim the cancellation fee, depending on the precise circumstances.

Thanks JDB. How do i go about cancelling? I don’t have Amex platinum insurance and i hadn’t taken out travel insurance yet for the trip either. Will this effect my ability to cancel?
The voucher was only valid until the end of April 2025 i believe, i guess that means i wont be able to rebook and use the voucher?
Thanks
@jezza76 – you might be able to cancel online, but if not call BA. In terms of the voucher validity, BA has recently formally introduced ability to extend on compassionate grounds which might possibly assist.
