As per subject really!
I’m wanting to book a flight to Central America, where the connecting flight to Portugal from London is run by Iberia, and whilst it’s through ba.com, has a BA Humber, and I believe Iberia is owned by BA, can I use the upgrade voucher? Or is Iberia classed as a partner airline and I can’t use the voucher?
Iberia is not owned by BA. You’ll create a diplomatic incident saying that!

What are the restrictions on what flights I can book?
You can only book British Airways operated flights, with a BA flight number.
You mean Madrid right ? Iberia doesn’t operate any flights to Portugal from UK. Reward flights can only be booked on “prime” codes not codeshares so they won’t show up to use with a Barclays upgrade voucher – as @BA Flyer IHG Stayer stays only BA metal allowed
Ops, I meant IAG of course. I had seen that criteria, but I quite often fly with Vueling, but book through BA, and a get a BA flight number, even though it’s operated by Vueling (and there’s also a simultaneous Vueling flight number), hence the confusion. So does it actually have to be operated by BA?
Sorry, two diplomatic incidents in one question!
From what I understand, the BA Amex voucher you can use on Iberia but not Barclaycard vouchers?
The voucher terms are different from flight only bookings.
And as the article I linked to makes clear it’s BA metal only for the Barclays voucher.

You are seriously over-paying if you do this!

Only worth doing if you’re BA gold and price differential is small enough to get lounge access included?

And one extra restriction… The ONLY lounges you can use as a gold are BA lounges. So in the case here, you would not get lounge access in Portugal (or Madrid, if that’s what they meant).
