Gosh. Nearly 9 am and no posts. Good Morning from the mild dry highlands. My travels for the day amount to a trip in to the gym followed by lunch with friends passing Culloden battlefield ( anniversary today). Then home to potter in the garden whilst I contemplate exotic destinations and how to get there. Enjoy your day

Hi, I have a bill to pay to BMW for around £26k and the head office says it only takes debit card or bank transfer, is there any way around this to earn avios etc? This is the final payment for purchasing the car at the end of its lease.

Morning from the bath of my suite at the LHR T4 CP.

Points booking and upgraded yesterday morning.

Am off to Berlin for Easter later this morning,

Think the H30 ‘secret’ is out there. Yesterday afternoon 6 others boarded at T5 all with luggage, not seen that many non airport staff before.

Don’t know what will happen whilst I’m away but the last time I was there for NYE BA announced the TP earning change.

So if they do anything else big it’s just coincidence and not my fault!

@shilly, have you got Curve? Failing that, could you use Blue Chain for some or all of the amount (given that there’s a fee involved)?

Things may have changed, but when we had a lease via BMW finance up to about 12 months ago, they did accept credit cards, including Amex!

    @shilly

A partner referral for Amex platinum 18K Mr points
95K Mr points for £10K spend and 26K Mr points for £26K.
Through Bluechain 2.3% fee = £595 for 139K MR points.
Amex platinum fee should net out with benefits

@shilly, also have you tried to pay any of it off via the automated payment number? It’s one of my non-negotiables with expensive items unless there’s significant cost difference; I did a balloon payment to Santander Finance on our current car split between the Barclays and Virgin cards so I could trigger both vouchers!

Good afternoon from Heathrow T3 – all credit to Finnair. Text received at 7.10am stating tonights flight from Helsinki to Hong Kong is cancelled, and text received 40 mins later putting us on a direct Cathay Pacific flight from London to Hong Kong. Also a text in between saying “please don’t worry, we are working on this”. This was all before the flight was showing as cancelled on their online “manage my booking” system. Banging customer service.

Flight from Helsinki cancelled due to Finish pilots union strike.

This was a flexible cash J fare. Departing LHR at nearly the same time, arriving in to Hong Kong much earlier as we don’t have to transit. Win win.

FREENOW being bought by Lyft – broadly good news I guess?

I use Freenow a lot in Europe, in Germany it’s really good, in the uk I don’t use it, it’s terrible in the uk.

Amex are keen. Within 10 minutes of checking in to the Hilton Tower Bridge, I’ve been emailed to say that the £50 cashback on £200 spend has been redeemed.

Not sure what will happen when the ££50 deposit is refunded

As an aside: the view from the lounge / balcony, normally good, is obscured by the generic accounting firm’s scaffolding opposite.

Intercontinental coming to Brisbane. Well, it”s the old Hilton.
