My Morrisons workperk was lowered a month or so to 4% so used Amazon effectively yesterday. Might be the only place left now. Saying that, it was mentioned that not only have Morrisons gcs stopped being accepted at fuel pumps but if I understood correctly it seems they will now not be able to be used in normal shopping aswell as per becleverwithcash in a few months.
Please can you provide more detail about Morrisons Gift Cars not being able to be used for normal shopping?

The above post stated that Morrisons Gift Cards will not be able to be used for ‘normal shopping’?
Does anyone have any further information on this? It’s possible zapato was referring to restrictions brought by other retailers that you cannot use a gift card to buy another gift card.

I used a Morrison’s gift card for normal shopping a week ago.

Specifically from minute 02:50. As per the lady, GCs will no longer be able to be used in Morrisons period.
@zapato1060 Have listened to that brief part of the podcast. Here is my understanding: in the petrol stations that Morrisons are selling off to MFG, once they have been sold to MFG and whilst still branded as Morrisons you will be unable to use GCs to pay for fuel or any groceries or anything else that you can currently use them for (e.g. not paying for lottery tickets if you can’t currently do).
IMO the podcast has not been clear that you will still be able to pay for groceries etc with a Morrisons GC in a Morrisons store. If that was to alter it would have to be significantly better publicised and a huge commercial change.
It will also be interesting to see whether Morrisons GCs will still work in Morrisons forecourts that aren’t moving to MFG. (if not all of them are), despite what the card t&cs say!Yeah I guess your right. We soon will know as it’s my only way of getting Amazon discount.
Talking of Morrisons, the 10% cashback offers at Morrisons instore when spending ~£30+ are back on numerous cards. e.g. Virgin Atlantic CC, Curve (limited to max £10 rebate) and others.
As of now I believe that to be the most lucrative way of buying gcs at a discount. Unfortunately the hay days of quite easily getting 20-25%+ back from buying gcs seems to be over.
JamDoughnut is dropping Amazon on 30th June 🙁
Agreed… I topped up my AirBnB with £1k with a nice £100 rebate courtesy of NatWest a week ago.
I’ve recently purchased £50 GC at Argos using Curve and received £1.30 curve-cashback.. although I’m on a free plan without selecting any cashbacks. Any idea how/why does it work and where I can see other retailers?
Go to Launchpad then Rewards. Argos is a permanent one, so it will show as “Active” all the time. The non-permanent ones will show as “Available” and you have activate them.

And buy £1000 Amazon GC 😅
Anyone seen a better current route for Airbnb discount/cashback apart from the TCB portal which is giving 6.3% ?
On Lloyd’s banking group..10% card factory… They sell gift cards..largely by the side of the till, sometimes dispersed about the shop, not sure which ones. I’ve just done the 10% Amex and NatWest 10% cash back at Morrsions and topped up 1.5k AirBnB gift card..it may well be back.
Thanks @drdan I’d never have thought of that route. Popped into my local one today but no airbnb, they do have amazon though so that’s a decent option for a topup. Hope the Morrisons one comes back soon.

Do these come through okay? Always get nervous that it will identify as giftcard and get rejected (as most t&C’s exclude this)
I tried it last week. On my Halifax Clarity it’s 10% with a maximum reward of £30.
In store they looked at me super suspiciously and told me the maximum value they could put through in one transaction was £150. Stupidly the GCs I picked added up to £160, so they put through £110 and £50. I then noticed the offer is for the first transaction only, so I guess I’ll just get £11. Better than nothing.
The cashback is meant to get awarded at the end of the following month, so end of August for me. Virtually impossible for Amex to identify I bought GCs I would say.

Try it with a small value card. What have you got to lose, you’ll stil have the gift card. But in my experience few if any retailers are able to report a gift card purchase back to Amex.
Never an issue for me… Morrisons self check out or till, card factory… All good.
I just topped up £1.5k AirBnB via Morrisons and Natwest and got my £150 back.. even better as even though it’s 10% cash back..I book for my mate and I so it works out at 20% off my half of the stay (my service fee for the hours of research I put it!) .. Cher-ching!

It most likely means you won’t be able to use the gift cards for shopping in the petrol stations for non petrol items but you will still be able to use them in the main supermarket for shopping, that pod cast definitely didn’t make that clear but if they were stopping gift cards for their main supermarkets that would be a big deal
Hi yes Morrisons GC for fuel is kaput. Shame as I was beating the best in the area (Costco).
10% Morrison’s cashback in-store doing the rounds again (on my VS card) for gift card fans 🙂

Back on Barclays Cashback card too which is irritating as I shopped there yesterday. Ah well, back for an amazon topup at the weekend.
