Forums Payment cards Other payment cards The HSBC Premier Mastercards thread

Can only echo how good HSBC are for putting it right when they get it wrong.

About 10 years ago they sent me a non-contactless debit card. I asked (not complained) if they would send a contactless one instead, which they did, and included a case of wine for the trouble.

Anyway, no 25% extra here either.

Who did you contact? Was it the customer service line?

    Resolver.

Which section of Resolver – there are a lot of different forms 🙂

Wow – had never heard of Resolver. Have given it a go – selected credit card and the “other” category. How quick did you get a response?

I’ve just received an email from hsbc advising me to use my points before they expire

I received the same email but they still won’t say exactly WHEN the points are expiring. I can’t find that information anywhere.

Just hit 15 business days – no bonus poiunts. case rased at BA.

    @Andrew-M

    It’s totally obviously simply awful.

    So…

Log into HSBC but not using the App. You need to use your fancy log in identifier (mine begins with IB then a bunch of numbers) with a one time login code from the app.

Then select your world elite card.

Then click on where it says “Total Points Balance”

This then takes you to their loyalty portal.

    Then select “Spend Your Points”

At the bottom of this page, you see your Rewards Activity which shows every single forking transaction you have made but only, I think, in the last year. Not sure on that one.

Get out your abacus and add them all up, starting with the most recent, until you get to the number of points you currently have. Your points expire after three years so the date of the oldest transaction will show you how long before they get eviscerated one month at a time.

If someone now says there is a button you can press I will be unamused.

More helpfully it shows “Points Spent” in the last year. I can see when I last transferred to BA which was July last year when I cleared out my account.

In the past I have resorted to looking at my BA account to see when I last transferred from HSBC. As I only do this when there is a 25% bonus and I empty my account, I can work it out from there.

    It’s totally crazy nuts bonkers.

I’m sure if you complained they’d give you £100 and a copy of “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word” signed by Elton John.

48 hours – very quick for them. Very nice chap who called and apologised, said didn’t know what had gone wrong, and asked whether he could do anything to resolve it on the phone. Didn’t seem to want to solve the overall bonus issue: said the intended bonus may or may not eventually come through in which case I could keep the points. I had provided the £value of buying the missing points in the complaint. There seemed to be a push to resolve the case quickly, which suited me perfectly.

Counter data point: Points + bonus points received less than 24 hours after submitting the request.

Weirdly the 25% bonus on a trial transfer on June 6th is still missing while the bonus on a much bigger transfer completed yesterday was instantaneous (as has always been in previous years)

    points_worrier 332 posts

I just did a trial transfer of a further 1000 avios and the bonus 250 points posted almost immediately.

The original bonus from a transfer on 8th June, which was the subject of my complaint, has not posted.

    MrWhite 98 posts

I’ve just had the same. Bonus transferred instantly. Original transfer on the 6th not posted. Not going to complain over a few avios though.

Same for me above. My original transfers on 6th June have not posted the 25% bonus. I have just completed a ‘top up’ transfer of some points I had earned since the start of June today and the 25% bonus posted immediately. I also have a complaint open and will wait to see what happens about the historical transfers.

    Me too.
Original 50k transfer still has no bonus from 6th June.
2 transfers today 1k and 60k, bonus appeared straight away.

Bonus points now in BAEC account for transaction on 5th and 6th June. Also have another 2 avios payments from HSBC which are a mystery….

Yup same here Numpty … you’ll find the two other amounts are a 25% bonus on your 25% bonus transaction

Good spot, wish i had transferred more at the time now.

I’m glad I transferred over another 155k on the 27th when I knew it had failed.

Bonus 12k Avios. Makes up for not getting that £100 compensation lol

Indeed, 25% on top of the 25% bonus Avios sweetened the deal of transferring early 🙂

    Yuff 43 posts

Result as I didn’t really want to complain about the missing bonus.
Was annoyed I didn’t do a smaller transfer originally, every cloud.
Points warrior must be well happy, compensation at 2pppa and then they turn up with an added bonus
    🤣

I’d been wondering why 1 avios had turned up mysteriously. Will have to think carefully how to spend it!

Extra 6% bonus as well…. As others mentioned I was hopeful would get sorted without complaining..
whilst systems are clunky… I’ve happy with HSBC to date

    Same here!

Points landed today as well with an additional 25% of the 25% missing points.

I also just had a call from HSBC complaints dept. who kindly offered me a £103 compensation following my resolver complaint. 🙂

I too had the 25% on top and it hasn’t been yanked back yet (assuming that might be possible?)

I did wonder, has anyone found any good World Elite MC perks of having the UK paid premier card? I noticed there’s free GHA titanium but only for Asia-Pacific-issued cards.
