Interesting. Was the MMB issue on Finnair related to this? Or BA booking references are overwhelming Finnair’s Amadeus? I can still find my CX and QA bookings on Finnair.
RAM and Sri Lankan don’t require call centres, it takes just 20 seconds by using the online manage my booking.

Finnair coincidentally stopped working at the same time. Re call centres, I was referring to the poster who says he spent 2½ hours calling BA to change seats on the basis of new RJ status. The two sites you mention that may still work won’t be used to all the traffic of people changing their FF numbers and then having to change them back if they can.

Or just use RAM or Sri Lankan MMB.

This was done last Friday so will certainly try the RAM route (tried Sri Lankan yesterday and it didn’t work). I had tried 7 of the Oneworld alliance members before calling but hadn’t got to either RAM or Sri Lankan…

    RAM worked for me yesterday

BA.com still says ‘seat selection 24 hours prior’ for me, but BA have confirmed that my RJ status has been applied and I can select 7 days before. Their guess was it being wrong because my next flight is a couple of months away.

Looks like the plug has been pulled? I managed to get my free seat selection last week for MLE flight next year using Finnair MMB
But yesterday Finnair wouldn’t let me process the FF change to Royal Jordanian for a different flight next month
And Thanks for the tips but today tried RAM and got

“Your reservation is confirmed, but your special request could not be processed for these flights at this time. Please contact us via e-mail or phone to communicate your special request. Please make note of your confirmation number or record locator. (4609 – 1919)”

And tried Sri Lankan MMB and got a similar “cannot process at this time” error message.

Wonder if One World Alliance members will recognise the Sparrow Gold Status at all now?

I think they kind of have to

    Thanks
I would hope so – but guess if they can make it difficult they will.
Sri Lankan still gives “The system is temporarily unable to process your request. Please try again. (9102)”
Guess I may have to call BA but I’ll keep trying

So for those who have used this in an airport for the lounge, fast track security etc, what proof do you show of your status? Or if you’ve added your RJ number to the booking does something different show on your boarding pass reflecting the status?

And if the method to change FF number via partner sites has died is the only option to go onto BA live chat after you’re in the lounge? What a faff.

The boarding pass with show your Oneworld status

Ruby (Bronze), Sapphire (Silver) or Emerald (Gold)

Pretty sure gate agents can change your FF have to get there early I guess.

And you have to hope they change it in the correct field rather than just adding it… it’s going to cause a lot of tears. Also, BA ground handling agents at outstations likely can’t do this for you.

RAM said it failed but I was then able to select seats on BA. So I don’t think it did fail.

@JDB ah well live and learn but for redemptions it makes no difference.

But the hassle is why I didn’t bother.

Same for me, they said I can select for free within 7 days, even though it shows 24hrs now. My flights are in December.

I used the AY route to change the FFN and the Apple Wallet boarding pass was white with no sign of oneworld, but had a “fast track” label, boarding group, and allowed me into the LHR T5 lounge. There was no need to show the status anywhere.

    AY doesn’t recognise my ticket
RAM: Added my RJ number but also getting:

Flight is tomorrow. The Boarding Pass is still “white”, no fast-track

Update: Gave it a couple of mins and BA reissued Boarding Pass has all the relevant info.
    RAM did work!

For new bookings on BA, at what points should I add my RJ number? If I use my Exec Club account, won’t that override or auto-populate?

And for the free seat selection, when should that be available?

I had the same issue where is said select seats from 24 hours, but when the 7 day window opened it changed to select seats for free and I was able to select without issue.

Now I’m trying to work out the most efficient way to change back to BAEC for Avios and tier points – thinking of doing right as check in opens so hopefully the seats I’ve chosen ‘stick’. Doing it at the gate feels like it might be hit or miss

Don’t know if it is because I have already flown the outbound before my status match (so originally had a different FF number), but after inputting my RJ member number in the Finnair website, it keeps reverting back to my Finnair number every 4 or 5 days and loosing the seat selection. I need to keep going back in and reinsert the number and choose the seats again. This is flying with Finnair.

So sorry if I’m being a dimwit about this – first time I’ve done a status match like this.

So I’ve got my Silver Jay/ Oneworld Bronze match sorted and now want to do the seat selection for our BA flights in a week’s time. I can’t see how to manage those flights through the Jordanian Royal Club or how to apply my new status at BA.com… guidance very welcome from anyone who has the time! Thank you.

As has been previously discussed in this thread, you can change you FF number to the RJ one via the Royal Air Maroc, Manage Booking page. You dont need a RAM account to do this.

–Step 1. Use your BA booking reference number on RJ or RAM MMB and change your BA Frequent Flyer number to your RJ number.

–Step 2. 7 days before your flight, go to BA MMB to select your seat.
You can ignore these error messages from both BA and RJ because of their rubbish IT.

If you want to check if the update was successful or not after step 1, give it 10 minutes and go to Qantas MMB and see if the RJ number is displayed or not.

Some people are unhappy about this because they have spent £1000s on tier point runs, but RJ allows anyone to spend $49/$149 to get the equivalent status. RJ may not do this again.

Thank you both – I have managed to sort the seats.

Finnair MMB still not working for BA flights. Thought it might have been a glitch but not thinking it was deliberately pulled.

Yes, please thank the enormous flock of Jordanian sparrows for messing this up. They could have been more subtle rather than all going to Finnair.
