Upgrade voucher availability for both classes?

I think I knew the answer but would like to confirm with HfPers.

Unlikely Barclay card upgrade vouchers, you would need to have availability for both classes to use upgrade vouchers. The flight I would like to book has no more PE reward availability but plenty of upclass seats 😢

Just booked one way UC ticket from PVG to LHR over Christmas that only cost 97500 + £580 for 3 of us which I think was really good value
