IHG Rewards Club – the Holiday Inn, HI Express, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental etc group – is launching its new promotion on Monday.  It will run from September 1st to December 31st.

“The Big Win” will offer a different set of deals to every member, so it is difficult to write in too much detail at the moment.  However, every member will be offered at least 50,000 bonus points or 10,000 airline miles.

IHG Rewards Club

The registration website went live early for a period on Friday but then seems to have disappeared again – the official launch date is Monday.

However, View From The Wing was able to register on Friday.  Gary got offered the following:

  • Try one and done – 1000 points for my first stay
  • Stay more and earn more  – 7400 points for 7 nights
  • Explore our brands – 12000 points for staying at 2 brands
  • Book with us – 2400 points for making 2 bookings through an IHG website or mobile device
  • Survey the win – 100 points for taking a survey
  • Live the city life – 8400 points for 3 stays at participating hotels in Sao Paolo, Vancouver, Montreal, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington DC, and Mexico City
  • Win in a weekend – 4800 points for 2 Saturday night stays
  • Win big – 38000 more points for completing all of the above

If you assume that you got the same – which you won’t – you could pick up the grand total of 71,000 bonus points for staying 7 nights.  However, these seven nights would need to include two different brands, include 3 hotels at the cities featured, and include 2 Saturday nights!

There MAY be an opportunity to ‘mattress run’ here.  This is especially true of the dead period between Christmas and New Year, when you can often pick up a hotel room for peanuts.

It is also not clear if reward nights will count towards the total, given that you now earn elite stay credit on reward nights.  If they did, you could book some PointBreaks nights at 5,000 points and use those to qualify for the bonus!

I will see what I get when the IHG website kicks back into life, and then decide if this is a game worth playing.  My confirmed IHG bookings between now and 31st December are a grand total of 1 night, on a Friday ….

IHG One Rewards update – April 2024:

Interesting stuff… I wonder why my personal version is for bonus miles instead of IHG points (Iberia is my preferred earning method), but at the same time I’ve got the North American hotel list instead of the European one, so I can’t really see how I can pick up the full amount as it’s hardly worth a trip unless I decide to do a TP run…

  • DontLikeFruit says:

My offer total is 127,500 points:

Try one and done – 1,000.
    Stay more & earn more – 32 nights – 19,200
    Explore our brands – 4 different brands – 24,000
    Survey – 100
Live the city life – 2 locations (many London & Birmingham properties listed) – 7,200
    Win in a weekend – 7 Saturday nights – 12,000.
    Win big – 64,000 Points

Seven Saturday nights looks like my trickiest challenge, followed by 4 different brands.

  • Ian says:

    Excellent
The Live the city life offer includes numerous Birmingham hotels. I should be able to complete most of the challenge with my normal business trips. The weekend stays will prove more difficult.

  • Eric OMara says:

I am looking for help here please 🙂

We were looking to book a long weekend somewhere anyway , mid Sept, when this promo came up.
I have no status (yet) with ICH but this is my plan

Friday – Preston South hIx £44
    Saturday – Preston HI £50
    Sunday – Liverpool Indigo £67

I’m registered for the following offers
    “Try one and done”
    1 stay is 500 miles
As I am booking 3 nights in separate hotels, is that 1500 miles?
Explore our brands”- stay in 3 different brands
2000 miles – think I’m ok with that
    “Book direct 500 miles”
2 online bookings to get 500 miles- ok with that

5000 bonus points for staying at Indigo Liverpool (£67) ok with that

2000 bonus points x 3 nights for 2013 promotion ok with that.

Now that we have reverted our earning preference back to points from BA,
    What’s a mile worth?

    FINALY
what other stackable codes can we apply, and do they count for each night, or just as a one off?
Your help would be much appreciated

    • Rob says:

You need to be careful. Switching back to points may be an issue – will they give you miles or points when you hit your targets? The ratio is usually 5 to 1 so theoretically if they let you take points you’d get 5x the number of miles.

The stackable codes – I listed most of the working ones in a recent post – may (I think) require your account to be set to points to pay out. Most are one offs, but some offer x points for every stay in y days.

      • Eric OMara says:

        Thanks Raffles.
Managed to register another couple of codes that should get us another 4500 points

        • Eric OMara says:

By my calc. Thats nearly 30K points for the weekend if they convert my miles to points at the 5:1 ratio

      • Craig says:

If you collect miles, you will still receive points using those codes…

  • John says:

Mine seems the easiest to achieve out of all posted so far!!

I haven’t stayed in IHG since last November, but I think I’ve got to go for this one.

Basically it’s 22600 points for 2 separate nights. Now, if one of them was at Heathrow and one in a certain European city, then I just need another 3 nights anywhere to get the remaining 79100 points!

(1000 for first stay, 3600 for booking 2 stays, 18000 for 2 brands, 18000 for 2 of the following European, 10100 for 5 nights, and 51100 for completion/survey)

    • John says:

5 nights with this promo could get me nearly a month of free nights at Point Breaks rates…

  • VV says:

Are the promotion codes from your previous posts and those from flyertalk are targeted and region specific? I heard someone has the account suspended because registering the codes not in the account holder region.

    • Rob says:

They are targeted to the extent that they only send them to some people, but they work for anyone. Never heard of any issues if people use them who don’t get them, and I have been doing this for YEARS. I recently changed my account to a US address for a couple of days to get a 5k bonus to hit, as I will post later this week.

  • flibbly says:

My ‘Live the city life’ offer only includes hotels in Australia and Japan, presumably because I stopped at a HI in Sydney last year. Makes the bonus impossible too, so unfortunately very little incentive to change my current plans.

  • Scott says:

My offers aren’t too bad especially if they include reward stays as I’ve a few in sydney later this year. Got bookings with Hilton and Accor due to better rates / locations but one could be changed to an IC to get a third brand stay – either that or a really cheap night at a UK Indigo.

As for my “city life” hotels, got London LHR HI, CP Amsterdam South, somewhere in Paris etc. Apart from maybe London, nothing really useful and the Amsterdam hotel seems a bit far out from the Dam Square touristy area.
