Tesco has launched a new promotional code for Tesco grocery shopping via a tie-up with moneysavingexpert.com.  It is pretty impressive:

Code expires on Monday 20th October – you need to receive the delivery, or do ‘click and collect’, by this date

This code is aimed at customers whose accounts have not had a Tesco Grocery order before.

It will also work OK if you have not done a Tesco Grocery order for some time, potentially a year or so.  I got it to work successfully on my account as the screenshot below shows.

The quickest way to see if it works on an existing account is to go to the Tesco grocery site and do a dummy order for £60 (search for ‘veuve’ and put two bottles in your basket!). Click checkout, select a random delivery slot, go to the payment page (do not put in a credit card number) and enter the code. The box is halfway down the payment page.

The voucher is then stored on your account. You do NOT need to complete the dummy order – the code will still be there if you do another grocery order later on.

If the code does not work on your account, you may want to consider opening a new Tesco Clubcard account just for this transaction.  If you are in a BA household account then it is better to use the name of someone else in your household account and send the Avios to them.

If you don’t want to order your groceries from Tesco, consider spending £60 on some wine, nappies, dishwasher tablets or other expensive branded items which you buy anyway. It is a very easy 3,600 Avios or 3,750 Virgin Flying Club miles if you only buy items you need anyway.

      It does; I have just placed an order and there is an enormous banner across the confirmation saying ‘This order has counted towards fuel savings’.
      And I paid with 3v.

            When you merge 3v cards is that £1.75 fee for merging as many cards as you want. eg, if you wanted to merge 10 cards into 1 card would it still be a £1.75 fee?

            Every single transfer comes at a 1.75 cost otherwise where would they make the money. You can also send them back to your bank account..see ny other reply

    Is there any risk in opening a new Tesco clubcard account if I already have one? Can i just merge them once the points have posted?

      The vouchers u generate grow this deal…If opened with a new account can simply be used on your original account in terms of cashing them in..ie… earn your £15 of clubcard from a new account but spend them in your old account when they get mailed out to you…

      Tesco have a security department that reviews all new applications for clubcards and you can get banned if abused, I can’t see a problem with a family member ordering from your address on your behalf an issue though )

    Today should be the end of period. Isthere a risk that today’s shoppping will not be included in this ending quater’s statement? Do points beed to be on the account by today?

    Opening a new account on the samename can be tricky. Better to get a new person in i reckon,if possible. Abd do not forget to sign in online at least once so to get the clubcard in short time.

      You can have several accounts. We acquired a number of cards before I found this site by the simple expedient of forgetting to carry the card with us and taking a new one when they used to be attached to a leaflet.

        Agreed, My partner didn’t have a tesco or club card account. Just signed her up for both and the 1500 bonus looks like it’s worked on the new club card account.

        Although i won’t be able to say for definite until my shopping arrives on Monday!

    Can anyone clarify then if today is quarter end , if a spend today with the promo code would mean the points would be included in this period ?

      By rule the points start their journey on the day of delivery. Then hit the account two days after (before i used to gettem in 1 day). So will you be able to find a slot by today? And i am not sure (i asked before above) they will be included in this statement. I also need to round some amounts.

      That is Tesco speak to say your account does not qualify for the offer. Perhaps an order in the last year?

      I have just placed an order and there were slots still available for today and just £1 delivery cost for the 8-9pm slot. One of our BAEC household members thankfully had not ordered for over a year.

    The code works for me, but it says the expiry date is 31/10/14 rather than the 20th.
