Excellent SWISS long-haul business class sale from the UK

Who needs a Qatar Airways sale anyway?  (Well, unless you are after BA tier points of course …..)

SWISS has launched a rather uncharacteristic deeply discounted Business Class sale from the UK.  The prices are EXCELLENT as long as two people travel together.

SWISS has a fantastic business class product, by all accounts.  I haven’t flown it – I was lucky to fly the excellent SWISS First Class product on my last two flights – but it looks great.

Swiss business class 1

The seat above is the most coveted – the layout is either 2-2-2 or 1-2-1 depending on row. The seat above, for which SWISS will charge you a fee to book (all other seat selection is free), is regarded as the ‘throne’.

Swiss business class

As you will need to be travelling with a partner to get these sale prices, however, one of the centre pairs above or a window pair will suit you just fine.

Swiss business class 3

These are the fares on offer:

Tel Aviv – £578

Cairo – £672

Muscat – £978

Dubai – £1,028

Delhi – £1,079

Mumbai – £1,128

Beijing – £1,178

Shanghai – £1,178

Nairobi – £1,278

Singapore – £1,378

Johannesburg – £1,398

Dar es Salaam – £1,526

Bangkok – £1,529

Hong Kong – £1,579

Bangkok is oddly expensive given that other airlines are massively discounting that route.  Johannesburg is a fantastic deal, as are the Indian and Chinese routes.  The Middle East pricing is pretty good too although BA can get as low as £1,300 in a sale.

The miles you earn from these flights will go into Miles & More, the Lufthansa /  SWISS programme, or any other Star Alliance airline.  If you want the flexibility to top up your account, SAS and Singapore Airlines are Amex Membership Rewards transfer partners whilst Miles & More and United MileagePlus have their own UK credit cards.

You can depart from London Heathrow, London City, Manchester or Birmingham.

Here are the key dates:

Book by 3rd July

Travel between 1st July and 31st March 2018

Minimum stay 3 days

No changes / no refunds

Blackout dates apply

The SWISS booking page is here.  Remember that you must book for TWO people to get this pricing.

Can you get direct flights or do they always fly via Switzerland?

  • Angmo says:

I’m actually finding First is cheaper than Business on some routes.

    • trueman says:

      Yes, but non-refundable.

    • Mrs_fussy says:

Hi – which particular routes are pricing cheaper in first ? Where are you looking
      Thanks

    • jamie RENNIE says:

Hi Angmo. Which routes and dates are coming up cheaper in First?

I took advantage of a similar offer from Swiss from Italy last month. The flight was great and the fare class rules are quite flexible: I could do an open jaw, so arrived to Hong Kong and will depart from Bangkok and it’s valid for trips longer than 30 days (not like Qatar sales which are always restricted to 30 days only)

Amazing . I will be booking something here . Thanks rob

I used to fly Swiss to BKK quite frequently when I was focussed on *A. I just missed their latest seats but they are same as old AY seats and layouts. I liked them but had a preference for the non throne type single seats that were immediately adjacent to the aircraft wall with table to my left. These felt the most private and suitable for sleeping but again not suited to couples. I was never very impressed with Swiss business class, food was insufficient and fell well short on quality offered in first, service was generally efficient but somewhat cold, and I disliked the Zurich transit when time was tight. Still, at these prices it’s a great deal. BKK on Swiss has always been popular, to best of my recollection business cabins were full every time I flew them.

Agree with most of your points. I’ve flown Swiss business twice. It is reasonable, probably slightly better than BA business but I agree that the staff are a bit average. I also found their main business class cabin felt very crowded. Still they are definitely not the worst and at this price, a good deal.

Whatever you do, don’t book one of the ‘throne’ or ‘Kirk’ seats (where you have two people in front of you). The foot cubby is tiny, making it really uncomfortable and claustrophobic if you want to turn over in bed!

I checked out BHX-BKK yesterday in both F and J and they weren’t even on Swiss…..they were on Thai Airways!

    • Andrew says:

Same with LON-SIN, ZRH-SIN-ZRH sectors operated by Singapore Airlines (A380 business). Very nice for £1,370 return!

      • Alan says:

That’s quite a nice setup & deal! Would definitely pick SQ biz over LX biz

    • JamesB says:

Take care then, it’s very likely an angle flat seat. On the plus side Thai food and service are better. For around £1500 you can get a rtn exUK to BKK on KLM without any need to book two seats, a full flat seat, a better transit airport, more frequent UK connections and enough FB miles for a flihht in Europe.

  • N says:

London to jnb pricing at €2k each way pp!
