Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

ENDING SOON: £15 off £25 Amazon purchase for ALL Amex Gold and Platinum holders

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

For the last 20+ months, Amazon has been offering an exclusive £15 discount code for Amex Gold, Green and Platinum charge card holders when they spend £25 or more.

This offer expires on 31st August.  If you haven’t taken advantage of it yet – probably because you didn’t have an Amex Gold or Platinum when it launched – this is your last chance.

You will save £15 on your next Amazon order of £25 or more as long as you part-pay with Membership Rewards points from your Amex Gold or Platinum card.

This is what to do:

If you have not already done so, link your Membership Rewards account with your Amazon account by visiting this page on the Amazon website

Buy £25 of items on amazon.co.uk (these MUST all be sold by Amazon and not third party merchants, and excludes digital content and gift cards)

You MUST select your Membership Rewards-earning Amex card as your payment card (you cannot use gift cards or any other payment source)

Part-pay for your order using Membership Rewards points.  The sneaky option is to redeem just 2 points for a 1p discount.  This saves you ‘wasting’ MR points on a low value redemption.  You will only get 0.45p per point and you shouldn’t waste more than 2 of your valuable points on such a poor deal!  (One comment below suggests that 10 points may be required, so 5p!).

Enter code AMEX16SWP at check out (the code must go in after you have selected part-payment with your Membership Rewards-registered card)

This offer is open to all UK American Express Gold, Green and Platinum cardholders.  It does not seem to work for American Express Rewards (blue) credit card holders.  Your Amazon account must have been opened before 28th October 2017 – creating a brand new Amazon account just to take advantage of this offer will not work.

  • Peter K says:

I accidently used it twice in my one Amazon account with a few months in between. Think it might have been because it was a different AMEX on each occasion?
It surprised me when it gave me the option and then it worked!

  • Jumble Tales says:

I followed the instructions above (to the letter) for my 10 year old Amazon account. My Amex MR card was accepted but code was rejected.

    • John says:

snap – my Gold Amex is quite new, which I suspect is the problem

    • Rob says:

The issue is usually ALL items not being sold (not just delivered) by Amazon.

      • Jumble Tales says:

I checked that all the items were sold and delivered by Amazon but the code was still rejected. However Amazon were today offering £6 bonus per £30 gift card top-up at the checkout page.

      • JimA says:

I was trying to buy an echo dot so pretty sure that was Amazon

  • federico says:

it works with different accounts, once you have paid just unmatch the 2 accounts 😉

  • TGLoyalty says:

I thought id give it a go and it worked.

New MR account but used the £15 off with this Amazon account about 7-8 months ago.

    Worth a go £15 for 2MR is a great deal 🙂

  • Vbk says:

This is a scam and the code does not work.

    DO NOT USE

  • Iain says:

Just used it – worked perfectly. Thanks Rob.

  • toomanylogins says:

Thanks for the reminder – I had used it previously but have just got a new gold amex and it worked again with no issues.

    • Peter K says:

Likewise. Same Card works on multiple Amazon accounts. Multiple Amex MR accounts work on the same Amazon account (at least they have done for me with a few months gap).

  • James says:

Thanks Rob – as a newbie to Amex Gold (switched from Virgin MBNA), I wasn’t aware of this.
Just grabbed a book from my list. Thanks for highlighting!
