Tomorrow is your last day for HSBC’s 25% bonus on conversions of HSBC Premier credit card points to Avios.
We mentioned this offer in early August but a lot of readers seemed to miss it because I have had a steady stream of emails since then highlighting it. If you are sitting on a pile of HSBC credit card points this is a good opportunity to use them.
The two HSBC Premier credit cards are very generous – the snag is that you need to have a HSBC Premier current account to get them. Whilst Premier is free, the income and/or savings requirements are high – see here.
The free HSBC Premier Mastercard, reviewed here, earns 0.5 Avios, Asia Miles, Singapore Airlines or Etihad Guest miles per £1 spent. The £195 per year HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard, reviewed here, earns 1 mile per £1 and also comes with airport lounge access.
You also get comprehensive travel insurance as part of the HSBC Premier current account, which makes this an interesting alternative to The Platinum Card from American Express for couples or solo travellers. It is less good for families as you are obliged to pay for children to enter airport lounges with you – Amex Platinum gets a family of four into a lounge.
PS. Our recent article on the top 10 reasons to get the HSBC Premier World Elite credit card is here.
