  O;T, Are there any frequent Eurostar travellers here that can advise me on how much time I’ll need at St Pancras station? Have a standard seat booked for departing 08:55 on a Saturday morning in May. What time should I get to the station?

    If on pleb ticket allow lots of time. If on higher level ticket than pleb you have separate gates and IME not really a queue.

    Queues can go rapidly to huge as everyone turns up about 10min ahead of the min checkin some days.

    If you allow time and it’s ridiculously early when you get there, there’s a very reasonable assortment of cafes in the station “landside” at St Pancras.

    As a rule of thumb I turn up 2 hours before – but technically it’s not necessary.
    Sometimes it suits them to offer you to go on a train earlier if it’s there – ask nicely..
    Take your Amex Plat for the Eurostar lounge if you’ve got one apparently it’s nice at both ends PAR/LON (see Rob reviews).

    I thiiiink Bahncard 1st Class also gets you into the Eurostar lounge – it did in BRU when I was there a while back.

        If you only have a standard ticket, they don’t let you through security until *I think* 45 minutes before the train, so you can’t even get to the lounge. Once I got through security and used the lounge, I wasn’t overly impressed anyway.

  Just a heads up, hired a car from sixt yesterday and receptionist said bookings were down 30%. They currently have a 30% off promotion. Also had a free upgrade from cheapest run-around to BMW.

  OT — Aena Fast Track Security

  Aena (Spain’s airport serivces vendor) sells lounge access and priority security — handy for those few on here who don’t have status and cards etc.

  Until recently, when buying Fast Track security for BCN, your pass would be valid for 30 days from date of purchase. They seems to have recently changed it to 7days. One to keep an eye on to make sure you don’t get caught out.
