  Got any promo codes ? There’s usually some that get 20% off gatwick official parking. The valet parking service is excellent and most convenient.

  I used a 20% promo code I found online for long stay south, booked back in October for this August but got 18 days for about £87 which I thought was a good price.

  Word of warning on the flexibility of Holiday Extras parking – whilst the more expensive options are badged as flexible (‘flextras’ branding in a green oval) – they are not fully refundable (you get a credit voucher, and then you can request to convert some, but not all, of the voucher back to cash. Unless you cancel in a very specific time window, you are ending up with some level of store credit).

  I only ever book the official car parks with self-park as I dont want to hand over my keys to some muppet who drives my car like he is in a F1 race to the car park. What are other people’s experiences when booking with purple parking and other private car parks where you have to hand over your keys?

    I’ve been using Sky Park Secure for many, many years now for booking ‘off site’ Meet and Greet companies at Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted. They seem to work only with vetted and reputable companies.
    Only once had a severe waiting problem with a company at Stansted.
    Tell a lie – also had an issue once at Gatwick, but that seemed to be affecting an awful lot of customers of other off site services at the same time, so no idea what was happening there.

    I have found Copthorne parking for Gatwick to be good. You have over your keys but the cars are parked on site. My car battery died one time when there and they jump started it twice for me!
    You ring them when you arrive back for a transfer and it’s usually been pretty quick to get to the airport.

    @KP I’ve used all the car park companies there is at LGW, LHR & STN over many years and I have settled with purple parking now.Not only because of their price point (Which is very competitive) but they also have a great review score now.They are park mark award winners and have 24 hour security, you drive your vehicle to the barriers, The vehicle is scanned with cameras then upon entering you drive into one of several long bays and pop into the office hand the keys over then board one of the several busses to transfer to the terminals, About 10 mins to LGW north and 15 mins to LGW south, i have never waited longer than 20 mins for a pick up at the terminal on the return leg, I am currently in the Caribbean and my vehicle is parked at purple parking LGW Charlwood Rd, If your flying from LGW south as you taxi to the end of the runway you can see the car park at the end before you take off.
    Purple parking at LHR on Bath road is just as good and has a similar price point and transfer times. It also has a premier inn next door, A 2 min walk with fantastic views of the runway from most rooms.

      Ideal if you have an early morning flight as they allow you to leave the vehicle the night before and use their shuttle bus the next morning. Probably a 3 minute walk between the 2

        Thanks all for comments. Google reviews is horrible for purple parking so I was not considered them despite the good prices. Surprised by your positive experiences

  Lots of buses in Crawley to LGW…catch a bus from the free parking streets. At least you know where you car is, and you have the keys…and it’s free! The numbers 3/4/5 are useful….!!

  I use the Valet parking at LGW provided that the rate is good. It usually is for stays of 2/3 weeks. They scan your car thoroughly for all marks on arrival by machine so you do hand over your keys to them. My trick is to simply book whichever terminal has the cheapest rate irrespective of which one I’m flying from. Sometimes there is a huge difference and the connecting train takes 2 mins

  Silly question – Can i just book the hotel/parking package, check in but not stay at the hotel, and head to the terminal?? – it is cheaper than booking parking direct at a LGW car park.

    Probably not, no. They need your registration details for a start so you’re not clamped. You can check in and walk straight out though.

      Cool. Thats what i;ll do, check in, give them the Reg details, maybe ruffle the bed, then head to the terminal.
