Marriott Bonvoy is currently running its ‘Week of Wonders’, a series of special offers and promotions designed to get you back in the mood for travel.

If you’ve not been tempted by some of the offers we’ve covered so far, such as:

…. then how about a $500 Marriott Bonvoy gift card?

Yes, I thought that would do the trick.

What can you win?

Until Thursday night, we are giving away a $500 Marriott Bonvoy gift card to one lucky Head for Points reader. This is worth about £365 at the current exchange rate.

Whilst the gift card is denominated in $, you can use it a Marriott Bonvoy hotel in any country. The amount will be converted automatically to $ and deducted from your balance. You do not need to use the entire balance in one stay.

You don’t even need to stay at a hotel to use your gift card. The majority of hotels will accept it for food and drink or spa treatments without requiring a stay.

(Some exclusions apply: you cannot use Marriott gift cards at Bulgari, Design Hotels, Homes & Villas by Marriott International or The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club.)

You can learn more about Marriott Bonvoy gift cards – and buy one – on this page of the Marriott website. You can also check the balance of an existing gift card on that page.

How do I enter?

It is very simple. Simply fill in the widget below with your name and email address.

You must be a Marriott Bonvoy member to enter.

If you are not a member of Marriott Bonvoy, you can sign up for free here. You must sign up before the competition closes on Thursday 14th October.

For data protection reasons you do not need to put your Marriott Bonvoy membership details on the entry form. The winner will need to provide them to Marriott Bonvoy before the gift card is awarded.

You must be aged 18+ and a resident of the UK, Isle of Man or the Channel Islands to enter. You must also be physically present in this region in order for the widget to accept your entry.

The full competiton rules can be found by clicking the link in the entry widget.

Good luck!

Don’t forget to visit the ‘Week of Wonders’ website here for full details of all of the special offers currently running. ‘Week of Wonders’ runs until 14th October.

Not sure if I am misreading the Gleam widget (quite possible…) but once I enter it says “34 days left” which seems to suggest it is running until the 14th November instead of 14th October?

  • Peter says:

Such a shame loyal ex-UK readers are excluded from the competition…

  • Mouse says:

Is this week 2 of week of wonders?

We used a previous voucher in the UK recently. Caused a bit of a stir as only one person could apply it and they weren’t in. Applied a few days after checking out and got a rate of $1.35 to £1.

Yup. Tried to use a gift card at The Langley recently. Have up after the whole team manning the front desk couldn’t get it to work for 15 minutes. One idea is to let them know a day before you want to apply a gift card to your balance, maybe then they’ll have enough time to figure it out…

Many years ago I had a similar problem, but GBP to USD. Marriott ran a promo – can’t recall the details – but we ended up with a £100 gift cert. Used it at a hotel in the US, who couldn’t sort out how to apply it. Agreed with front desk that the rate was close enough to £100 that we’d just call it evens.

Then a few weeks later I get a bill from the hotel asking for the difference as they had applied a comedy exchange rate. I mean it was so bad that even Travelex at Heathrow wouldn’t dare try it. Quickly backed down, but it does seem a lot easier for them to just run these promos with points not cash!

There is a clear instruction sheet somewhere — it really not that difficult — check in staff have to choose something like “Comex card” (not sure spelling) as Payment Option, and inform you of the FX rate, which is close enough to current.

Gleam still not accepting .me.uk email addresses 🙁

  • Gareth Morgan says:

Wants me to authorise Gleam to access one of my social media accounts. No way.

  • Matt says:

Thanks Rob. A nice prize for one of us.

  • John says:

Just curious.. is this a sponsored (i.e. by Marriott) post?

    • Rob says:

Who else would give us a $500 Marriott gift card?!

They are not specifically paying us anything on top for running the competition. They paid for the four articles we ran last week and the ads at the top of the page.
