Get £75 back on a £300 spend at selected UK hotels as ‘Amex Stays’ returns

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

American Express has brought back ‘Amex Stays’, a generous cashback offer covering 40+ UK hotels and a handful of rather random European properties!

This is totally separate to the multiple ‘big brand’ hotel cashback deals we’ve covered in recent weeks.

Importantly, it is official that pre-paid hotel rooms WILL count for the offer. This allows you to book during the relatively short offer period and stay later.

Amex Stays hotel cashback

It’s a simple deal:

  • you will receive £75 cashback when you spend £300 IN ONE TRANSACTION with a participating hotel
  • you can only earn the cashback once, in total – this is a change to last year when you could earn it once per hotel
  • the offer runs until 1st June 2025
  • pre-paid AND ‘pay on departure’ bookings count, so pre-paid online bookings for future stays are ok as long as the charge is taken by 1st June
  • you need to opt-in for the offer via the ‘Offers’ tab of your card

Which hotels are participating?

There is a PDF showing participating brands here.

Here are some of the notable brands, but for the full list click the link above. To add some value, I’ve listed the loyalty programme each is associated with and a link to any HfP review.

For me, the key opportunity would be for anyone working towards Global Hotel Alliance top tier status, which only requires stays at three different brands. With quite a few GHA hotels taking part, this offer would be a way of ticking a brand off and would potentially double up with any GHA promotion running.

Some of the independent hotels listed, such as Broadwick Soho, may be bookable via World of Hyatt as part of their Mr & Mrs Smith deal. Do check before booking.

Broadwick Soho is a Mr and Mrs Smith property, are we certain it wouldn’t earn WOH points?

  • NigelthePensioner says:

You would only spend £300 (and no more) at the Thistle LHR if you were buying the whole place outright. It should have been demolished and rebuilt over a decade ago ….

    • The real Swiss Tony says:

Whilst the hotel is long long past its sell-by date, the bar/restaurant on the roof is great fun. Stayed at the Hyatt along the road a couple of years back with the family before an early flight out on our summer holidays, so walked down to the Thistle for dinner. Thought the quality & service was good and the prices – especially for an airport hotel – offered solid value. Then you have the novelty of those massive planes hurtling past just a few feet away, all whilst the sun sets.

      • Gordon says:

Yes, the hyatt place on Bath road, is great value for a redemption stay, and you have a clear view of the runway from the top floors, the underground parking is good to keep the car cool on a hot day.

  • Eli gold says:

I just looked through all the hotel offers on my AMEX, strangely not a single hotel in Greece in any of the lists. Is this normal?
I’m looking for a hotel in Rhodes Greece

  • Tariq says:

Careful because different lists on different cards for the Amex Stays offer.

At least between Gold Business vs BAPP for me.

Hilton £50 off £200 appeared on Gold Business for me as well (didn’t find it on BAPP so far).

  • Will says:

£75 on £300 Hilton stay on my ba amex

  • Gordon says:

This appeared on my BAPP a couple of days ago, I actually posted it in comments yesterday!

  • jonr405 says:

@Rob are you sure you can only earn once? My link says:
“Use your Card at a participating location to make a qualifying purchase. You can use the Offer up to 42 times but only once per participating hotel.”

    https://www.americanexpress.com/en-gb/benefits/amex-offers/amex-stays/

    • Rob says:

Not correct, unless Amex has got confused. Both the press release we got and the offer wording on the site when you register say “Only one credit per UK Card.”

The headline also says “Save to Card to get a £75 GBP statement credit when you make a single, eligible transaction of £300+ online or at selected hotels by 1/6/2025. Valid once per Card.”

      • jonr405 says:

Definitely something inconsistent here. Do you have an AMEX contact you could query? I’ve personally used this offer on multiple hotels in the past, but the wording you quote seems to directly contradict what’s posted on AMEX’s own webpage…

      • Alex_A says:

Seems to be confused messaging from Amex. The website jonr405 links to says “up to 42” uses, but offer T&Cs on my Plat Amex clearly say “only one credit per UK card”.

    • Kevin C says:

Yes, my link says the same. It’s in the big print.

      ‘Step 2
      Use your Card
Use your Card at a participating location to make a qualifying purchase. You can use the Offer up to 42 times but only once per participating hotel.’

  • Tim says:

It’s appeared on my free BA card, but not on my Platinum. The BA card also now has a Spend £200 or more at Hilton, get £50 back.

    • Paul W says:

I see “Spend 200 or more on Hilton, get £50 back” on my supplementary Plat (my wife being the main account holder), and “Spend £300, get £75 back” on my own Plat!
