Amex deals: £100 at Mr Porter, Harrods 10% off + £100, Wheely, FREE NOW, Corinthia and more

There are quite a few comings and goings with American Express cashback deals worth mentioning, so I have put them together in this article.

£100 cashback on £350 spend at Mr Porter

A new Mr Porter offer has appeared for those who like designer menswear. In my experience this offer reaches its sign-up capacity rapidly – this one is capped at 6,000 cards – so save it now if you think you might use it.

It is valid until 22nd December.

The offer will stack with a 10% discount for signing up to their emails. You can register here or go via the home page here and you should see it appear at the top of your screen.

Same day delivery is available in London if you order by 10am. Details are here – select ‘Your Delivery Options’.

£100 back on £500 spend at Qatar Airways

This is self explanatory, valid for flight bookings in any class to any destination made by 31st December. Travel can be for any date.

If you travel a lot with Qatar Airways, you could – if you wanted to tie up your money – use this towards a future flight. You could make a £500 flight booking now for a random route, bank the cashback and then – under Qatar’s ‘travel with confidence’ policy outlined here – swap it for a £500 travel voucher valid for two years towards a future booking.

Your voucher would actually be for more than £500, as Qatar Airways gives you a 10% bonus on the base fare (ie excluding taxes and charges).

The Qatar Airways website is here. You can see our Qatar Airways flights reviews – and many more – on our flight reviews index page here.

Harrods American Express £100 offer

Harrods 10% weekend extended to Wednesday

Harrods has extended its ‘10% off almost everything’ promotion to Wednesday, at which point the physical store will close.

If you have an American Express Platinum card and received a letter or email saying that you are eligible to £100 cashback on a £100 Harrods spend (or 100% cashback on smaller spends) then you may want to head down to Knightsbridge now.

If you have the offer, it may now show online – it does for me. Look under your ‘Saved’ offers and NOT the main list.

Remember that the offer ends on 30th November and the store will not be reopening before then. I assume that online sales will continue but the website only sells a fraction of the products available.

Wheely – £50 cashback for three rides

There has, for a while now, been a ‘£50 cashback for taking three rides with Wheely’ offer on many Amex accounts.

We mentioned it once but have not pushed it aggressively. I was – not unfairly – chided over this in the comments over the weekend. Realising that my diary involves a lot of dashing around London over the next couple of days, I thought I would use it.

Wheely is basically a ‘posh’ or ‘very posh’ Uber based on whether you book a ‘Business’ or ‘First’ car. It’s how Uber used to be before the Exec service lost its shine.

My first ride yesterday was from Knightsbridge to Kensington High Street, which clocked in at £13 for a Mercedes E-Class. When the driver realised that it was raining and he couldn’t drop me exactly at the door I needed because of the one-way system, he parked up, pulled out an umbrella (I didn’t have one) and insisted on walking me to the building. Fantastic service.

I have the offer on two Amex cards and should be able to do six rides by Wednesday (the offer ends on Saturday, technically, but ….). On this basis I will breakeven or make a small profit on the £100 cashback I receive as well as saving money and time by not taking the tube. It’s a win all round.

Wheely American Express offer

50% off a FREE NOW ride

I also have an offer for 50% off one ride at FREE NOW (was MyTaxi, was previously Hailo).

The 50% rebate is capped at £7 and you can only earn it once, so it isn’t hugely generous. The offer runs to 12th December.

The Gett offer – 15% back on all taxi rides – which was on personal cards recently has now appeared on my Platinum Business card. It runs until 31st December.

£100 off £300 spend at Corinthia Hotel London

Corinthia has joined the 20+ hotel chains offering cashback via Amex.

If targeted, you will receive £100 back on a £300+ spend. This offer runs until 31st March which gives you a better chance of using it.

Only the London hotel is taking part. This is, however, the best Corinthia hotel by miles. I had a tour of Corinthia London a few years ago and the London website is here. The restaurant is run by Tom Kerridge which is a good enough reason in itself to stay.

The main website is here.

  • Mark says:

I used to have an Amex Gold, which I then called in to transfer to an Amex Rewards at the 1 year mark. I decided a month later to get the Gold as I could do with the anniversary bonus which I’ll hit quite easily.

So I have lots of offers remaining on my Rewards card, would it be possible to transfer my offers/balance/account history on my Rewards to the new Gold which I just got?

  • Sam says:

Is the Corinthia offer triggered by using the Spa as a day trip, instead of staying in the hotel? Just read Rob’s review and spa got good reviews.

    • Gin and Tonic Please says:

Pretty sure it won’t. It’s been too long for me to double check credit card statements easily, but I’m fairly certain the spa bills as E’SPA Life at Corinthia Hotel, which I doubt would work. The spa is excellent though.

    • AndyW says:

Stayed at the Corinthia recently, and while the spa is very nice, facilities are reduced as you might expect, not sure I would want to visit just the spa right now.

  • Alex M says:

Just spoke to amex- told the harrods offer is targeted and not for me…

  • roberto says:

I checked and got an amazing spend £5 and get 1000MR on my Amex GC. Saved it , paid a fiver off my BA summer holiday and got the email confirming I had redeemed the offer from Amex in two minutes flat start to finish.

  • InfrastructureDebt says:

Can you change payment methods on BA after a booking? Refund onto card then pay again on another? Is this doable at all (perhaps through back office finance team) or could this just cause issues down the line if need to cancel? It’s 241 avios booking

  • TomD says:

MrPorter live chat says the 10% for first-time dosen’t stack with the gift card, contrary to the post above…

    • Andrew says:

Won’t stack with the 10% off for first time visitor, but will stack with Amex

      • TomD says:

Thanks! Have a purchase of £700. So using 2 x Amex offer will yield me a bit more discount 🙂

  • Mike says:

er I just looked at Mr Porter as I had never heard of it. I now know why i have never heard of it – they have a separate section of shoes called “sneakers” and sell a Gucci
Virtus Distressed Crystal-Embellished Leather and Webbing Sneakers for £1,400. I now know why I have never hard of them……Not that I needed any shoes as I have a black pair, a brown pair and a pair deck shoes all that are doing well the black and brown pair are now at least 20 years old and doing well.

    • Anna says:

We can be beyond the pale together, Mike, I had never heard of Rimowa luggage until today either – I thought I was splashing out on my M & S matching set 🤣

      • Mike says:

        M & S matching luggage – ooooh get you !

      • Josh says:

        As said by Mrs Bucket

“You *will* be careful with the luggage. It’s part of a very expensive matching set”

  • Gary says:

Pretty sure I looked this morning and on the Mr Porter website seen the 10% off for signing up. It is no longer coming up in the ribbon so I assume this has been removed?

    • Rob says:

It only shows when you first visit the site. Go into private browsing mode and it will reappear.

      • Andrew says:

And emails you the code when you sign up. There are quite a lot of brands excluded though – Berluti, Brunello Cucinelli, Charvet, Connolly, Gucci, Loro Piana, Salle Privée, Ermenegildo Zegna, Z Zegna, Amalgam Collection, Prada, Fear of God, Tom Ford, Moncler and Acne Studios..

      • Gary says:

Thanks, tried it on a different computer and it worked.
