Excellent £100 Hyatt / American Express cashback deal launched

Hyatt has brought back its very generous American Express cashback deal.

Not only is this the most generous of the cashback offers that regularly pop up on American Express cards, it is – at the moment – the only cashback offer for a major chain.

Even the dates work well. Until 30th April, so you may be able to use it when there is some sun around, you will receive £100 back when you spend £250 at participating Hyatt hotels.

Park Hyatt Vienna Hyatt American Express cashback offer

As usual, you need to see if you have the offer showing on any of your American Express cards and then save it to lock it in. My wife and I both have it, despite the fact that we both had an identical offer before Christmas and successfully used it.

There are a few things to note about this deal:

  • it is only valid at selected Hyatt properties in Europe
  • Small Luxury Hotels properties are not included
  • you need to stay by the end of April
  • it is clear that cumulative spend does count

The list of participating hotels is here.

Most people are finding the deal on Preferred Rewards Gold and The Platinum Card but it could be on others.

Hyatt American Express cashback offer Hotel du Palais Biarritz

This is a deal well worth jumping on

Some of my targets are on the list of participating hotels. Properties I am keen to try, although I’d want to wait until April to do so given the weather, include:

  • Hotel Martinez, Cannes
  • Palais de la Mediterranee, Nice (below)
  • Hotel du Palais Biarritz (above)
  • Park Hyatt Milan

Of the hotels we have reviewed, you can use the offer at:

You can check out the full list of participating hotels here.

One hotel missing from the list is the lovely Andaz Prague which I reviewed here, although there is a special Hyatt Prive offer on that hotel.

Palais de la Mediterrannee Nice Hilton American Express cashback

This deal will double up with Hyatt Prive benefits

You can combine this deal with Hyatt Prive, the benefits programme offered by luxury travel agents including our partner Emyr Thomas.

Hyatt Prive gets you the following benefits – at no additional cost, compared to the usual Best Flexible Rate – for stays at:

  • all Park Hyatt hotels
  • all Andaz hotels
  • some Grand Hyatt hotels
  • some Hyatt Regency hotels
  • some hotels in The Unbound Collection

You get:

  • $100 property credit per room per stay ($50 or $75 at some cheaper Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency hotels)
  • One category room upgrade confirmed within 24 hours of booking
  • Daily full breakfast for two
  • Early check-in (from 9am) and late check-out (to 4pm) subject to availability
  • Welcome gift and letter

Because all Hyatt Prive rates are ‘pay on departure’, you can be sure that they will combine with the cashback. Click here to learn more about Hyatt Prive, and use the form here to contact Emyr with booking enquiries.

  • Lou says:

    On the free BA card

  • Nick G says:

Has anyone used these to check in for one night (on one Amex) and another on a different Amex but stay two nights in the same room without having to move etc?

    • Reney says:

Are you trying to split the payment using two cards? In which case you can ask them to do that at checkout?

      • Nick G says:

Either or really…..as we have the offer on both cards just wondered the easiest route.I assume then it’s best for me to book two nights and on check out use two separate cards to pay?

      • Manya says:

Probably best to do two separate bookings if you wanted to receive the property credit twice.

    • Jess says:

Great Scotland Yard have done this twice for me with no issues. I think we used 3 cards to settle the bill

    • BJ says:

No problem. If you feel the need to explain yourself to reception just tell them one night is leisure and the other work therefore you need to charge two stays and to different cards. When booking it would be best to book identical room types to reduce risk of moving. An email or call to reception prior to arrival helps both them and you in this respect too.

    • Jamie says:

I’ve stayed at hotel Martínez and they were fine with using two different Amex to settle the bill just for one night so we triggered the £200 cashback. Room rate was about £800 so it definitely helped

    • Lou says:

Not done it at a Hyatt, but have booked hotels before some nights paid, others cash, and on check in, I tell them it’s the same group staying, and can they keep us in the same room. Never been a problem

    • Crafty says:

Andaz Liverpool Street – no problem splitting bill between two cards. I did it at a quiet time for reception, as a courtesy.

    • Andrew. says:

Do this regularly with a travel mate – although there are 2 of us paying rather than one person with 2 cards.

      Never had an issue.

*But* we have been caught out once on a similar £250/£100 offer when our bills were £249.99 each after conversion to Sterling. Gutted.

    • Rob says:

Do this all the time, never an issue.

    • Adam Jefford says:

I did this in one of the Paris Hyatts last year – made one booking but split the bill at checkout over the two Amex cards that had the offer. It was no problem and the Amex credits came through.

    • Alan says:

We have twice split our bill across two cards and each received the £100 credit.

I did think of asking Emyr to make two bookings to receive 2 X $100 bar credits but that seemed a bit too greedy.

  • Nick says:

It’s on my Amex Platinum credit card

  • Maples says:

It’s on my Platinum Cashback Everyday card but not on my Gold, sadly.

  • The real Swiss Tony says:

On my plat. Also now valid at the Stratford & Aldgate properties.

    I also have a £100 off a £400 AMEX travel spend.

  • Cat says:

Hi all, I know this offer is pay on departure, but does anyone have any experience of this statement credit offer crediting on prepay rates? I’m travelling in May half term.

    Thanks all!

    • Paul says:

Emyr organised this for me previously

    • meta says:

If they take the payment before the offer end, it should work.

    • Crafty says:

Fine at Andaz, but I did have to ring up.

    • Tiberius says:

I had done this at Hyatt Manchester for a July booking- the general Hyatt phone line gave me a run around and said it wasn’t possible but phoning the Hotel directly sorted it in 30 seconds.

      • Cat says:

Thanks for your responses – I’ll speak to Emyr, and see what he can wangle! If not, I’ll phone the hotel.

        Much appreciated all!

  • Anthony Heather says:

Hi, just lost all Hyatt points, as not stayed for 2 years l, I guess, I don’t think Award Wallet shows expire. Any suggestions on how to get back? Thanks

    • Rob says:

Ring and beg – they may offer you a deal such as ‘stay within 30 days and will put them back’.

    • Reney says:

My award wallet shows the expiry date, even if I have not update it, the date moves along. What does your account show?

      • Anthony Heather says:

Sadly no expiry dare, unlike other Hotel schemes. I just had an Award notification that balance gone to zero! Will ring.

  • JDB says:

The Hôtel Reisen in Stockholm which Rhys reviewed is also on the list.
