Where did it say the monthly fee was £15?

    https://www.headforpoints.com/2022/02/28/new-barclaycard-avios-credit-card-questions/

A £20 per month fee (reduced to £15 for customers who hold Barclays Avios Rewards via their current account)

I just don’t get the self-induced stress and upset or hanging on the phone for hours as it’s a few days late.

As I have said a few times before on this thread, Capital on Tap forgot to even send me my card so it took a chase and 3weeks to turn up. Despite this they said they couldn’t (read: wouldn’t) extend the period in which to make my qualifying spend. They rank at the bottom for me. That said, I still haven’t got my Barclaycard, so there is time to claim that prized position…

So that’s only if you have the current account – probably why it didn’t register!

I’ve received my PIN and a million emails but no card yet. However I tried to signup to the free Apple services and just get an error – has anyone had success signing up for any of them yet?

Except it’s nothing like that @JDB, because MS isn’t criminal activity!

Nobody said it was criminal, but it is simply not activity banks wish to see. I am just amazed that people seem quite so reckless with their cards, unless they don’t value them at all.

You yourself likened it to criminal activity. Bank would have no interest in people trying car doors, so I can’t see that there’s any relation between the two.

I’m in the same boat – approved 28 Feb, PIN arrived 9 March but no card. Out of interest, doesn’t anyone know of anyone who’s card has been received??

Appears these are the two: https://www.headforpoints.com/forums/topic/3ds-issues/

    Three. I am one.

Hopefully my issues are sorted now but don’t think that when you get the card that will be it!

So please help. I was accepted on March 3. Received tons of emails and a pin but no card yet. Are you supposed to contact them? Best way?

Applied on 28 Feb. I’ve had several emails, including one about a statement, and my pin arrived a week ago but no card yet. Currently on the phone with Barclaycard. Afer 50 minutes hold I got through, the lady was able to find my account but she could not access it. On hold again while she speaks to a specialist team.

The lady seems to be using a chat facility to talk with someone else in Barclays, it’s a painful process. Apparently the card was issued on 1 March. So they assume it is lost in the post and are issuing a new card. 4-5 days for new card to arrive.

There is a £20 membership charge on my account already, I’m asking for this to be removed as it doesn’t make sense to charge me for a card that has not been actived yet.

Also trying to confirm that the 3 month welcome bonus period has not started yet and won’t start until I activate the card.

Now been on the call 1 hour 15 🙁

    £20 refunded 🙂

3 month period started on 28 Feb. Apparently card policy means this cannot be changed or delayed. Seems grossly unfair as I have no card yet and probably won’t receive the replacement card unitl circa 18 March but they weren’t budging on it. @Rob can you apply any pressue on Barclaycard about this?

For anyone else who has not received your card, I suggest ringing but make sure you are free for 90 minutes!

No card for me today, original or replacement.

I’m not sure I want the card any more. It seems that people who have received the card are having issues with:

    Activation
    3D Secure
    Making payments
    Registering for the Apple offers

The product does not seem fit for purpose and I think Barclaycard should withdraw it until the issues are solved.

HfP silence is deafening. After all we signed up at launch due to the hype HfP generated. The Barclaycard ads should be pulled.

My card finally arrived today – as did the e-mail apology for its being late. I managed to activate it, but the account on the Barclays App (I am already a Barclays Premier and Barclays Avios customer)shows a £20 fee, not the £15 HfP trailed.
A 30 minute call failed to get any acknowledgement of this; their call centres clearly didn’t get the message.

I don’t recall anything about a £15 monthly fee – it was always £20 as far as I remember.

It’s £20 if you have a Premier Current Account, but you get £5 refunded each month to your current account. So it works like a cashback. At least that’s what I remember reading somewhere.

Will wait to see how it works in practice though, as it’s clear you need to take everything Barclays tell you with a spade full of salt.

You must be trolling. No one forced you to apply.

On the brighter side, it’s good to have a few Guinea pigs around. Plus all this generating decent traffic for HfP.

I had that today too – he mentioned to me that he needed to communicate with someone else on Skype, and that would be why I would hear him reading out my card number. I’m not sure how how secure that was…..

I would have much preferred to deal with whoever it was on the skype chat direct via a customer chat function, than having to phone for 2 hours to a “go-between” who couldn’t access anything.

Two weeks plus late. When you are holding off spending 1000s of pounds that you have to comit to in the next week, it is a big deal. Some of us dont just easily collect avios with our normal monthly spend, so when big promotions come along like this, its our main way of building up points.

I applied on the 1st and it was approved right away, I got this text from Barclaycard yesterday afternoon:

“We’re very sorry about the delay in receiving your new Avios Barclaycard. It was due to an issue that has now been fixed and your card should be with you imminently. Thanks for bearing with us. Your Barclaycard Team”

Does anyone who has received and activated their card know how easy it is to downgrade to the free version from within the app? I doubt I’ll meet the spend criteria now, especially if the clock started ticking on the date of application instead of the date of activation.

Bit harsh. I don’t think Rob is responsible for this farce.

I don’t think there’s any suggestion of that here. But Rob’s silence is notable and quite disappointing. He does have contacts in Barclays and given that he worked on this product with them, he could pull a few strings for his readers.

Annoyingly I had £3k of spend that had to be paid by Monday so it went on another card. I’ll be attempting to downgrade this as soon as I can now. I’m just hoping it doesn’t involve a 2 hour phone call to do it.

Applied 3rd March – Card and PIN all arrived, activated, working add added to app. 12 days in total to wait.

    Exemplary service from Barclays.

Not sure phoning up to cancel when the card was slightly slow to arrive was really a necessary move.

No not yet. I rang them this morning (got through immediately using the number on the back of the card) and the agent acknowledged he had ‘heard some customers might be having some trouble’ with sites that require verification codes sent to mobiles/email.
I asked to get it logged as an issue.
Would suggest you do so to. The more noise this new card product launch generates, the better in my opinion.

Another one having a number of issues:
    3DS not working.
    Contactless not working
    Took 12 days to arrive
App has a number of error messages

All in all very disappointed. Wi see how it goes for a few weeks then I’ll downgrade if it doesn’t get better.

1st time barclays customer and won’t be rushing back for any other products

It’s not just the fact that the card arrived late. Here’s a list of issues that people are reporting:
    – Card cannot be added to PayPal, Curve, eBay and many other online services (possibly due to an issue involving 3DS card verification/security)
    – Some people have reported getting some regular in-store transactions declined even after activating card
    – Apple Subscription offer does not work – links in the email do not work
    – People have had issues adding the card to Barclays’ own app
    – Statements have been produced already demanding payment for the first ‘month’ of largely being unable to use the card

    Is that really ‘exemplary service’?

New here, but you guys are helping me not feel like I’m going crazy.

Card arrived Monday, and +1 on nearly all the issues.

Currently on hold as they try to connect my main Barclays Premier account to my Barclaycard Avios Plus. 30 mins in and she still hasn’t found my Barclaycard account ‘Oh all our cards usually start with 4929, so we can’t find your account’. So that’s reassuring (my card starts 5301). They also knew nothing about the £5 discount for those with Premier Avios Rewards and the Avios Plus Barclaycard.

On the Apple Subscription point, response so far is ‘I don’t know how to fix that I’m afraid’.

Coming from Amex, I also like to spend, then immediately pay off that spend so I don’t rack up a big balance to pay at the end of each month. According to Barclaycard, I can’t do that, and can only pay once a month on the statement date. Which is a bit naff.

Also can’t connect to Curve, but have managed to make an online purchase with Heathrow Airport.

She reckon’s Apple Pay is coming next week.

Holding off cancelling my Amex for the time being…
