Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club BA Holidays double tier points offer – MASTER THREAD

  • NorthernLass 10,211 posts

@northernlass or @ladylondon wrote about booking a BAH with hotel where the BA holiday was for 1 person (herself) and then others accompanied you on the trip (the hotel in particular).

You somehow did this by booking a BAH for 1 but a room for 4

I am struggling to reproduce this kind of booking as whenever I search for a BAH for 1 person, there doesn’t seem to be the option to book 2 rooms or 1 room for 4 persons.

If I use the add a hotel user journey on the website and then select a room for 4, then the BAH website complains that the number of persons flying does not match the number of persons I am trying to book the room for.

Is there a secret sauce to your method please?

It’s not 100% clear what you’re doing here, but you can either try and sort it out via the hotel directly, as @JDB suggests, or use my preferred method. Don’t try and add any extra people to the booking. Once the trip is priced up, you get the option to choose a different hotel room prior to completing the booking and paying the deposit. Click on this and you should be able to see all the other room types the hotel is offering. Normally a double room is included from the start, so fine if there are two of you, but you can usually also select, e.g. a suite, or room with 2 double beds for a supplement, which is usually quite reasonable.

Has anyone had the bonus tier points credited at half the amount they should? We travelled return CE LGW-CTA beginning of May, received 160 tier points for the flights but only 80 for the holiday bonus. Phone calls and emails to BA but still not resolved! Any other suggestions to resolve?

Yes, it seems that if you get half-points, the rest is unlikely to appear automatically.

I used the email address from my shiny card to speed up matters, but it was the ‘holiday team’ that had to take action, so definitely pursue through them. There were a couple of addresses listed on the (very lengthy) BA double tier points thread on FlyerTalk, if you’ve not tried those already.

Does a BA holiday on a domestic itinerary work to get the double tier points?

And can I do an open jaw as in into DUB and out of BHD?

    NorthernLass 10,211 posts

DUB isn’t a domestic itinerary, but the answers are yes and yes anyway. Use the “customise my trip” tool so you can input all your flights separately.

Thanks – I had the idea of openjawing after I asked the first question.

BA are now taking over 30 days to award the extra Avios and the double tier points on BA holidays……anyone else experiencing this with these goons?

    PeteM 901 posts

I don’t think that’s entirely unreasonable? But it took 8 days for me at the beginning of May.

@NigelthePensioner – I don’t think your experience is the norm currently, judging by the comments above and on preceding pages. I did a BAH 26-31 May and the double points were credited on 5 June.

I don’t think your experience makes BA ‘goons’ – for a start, despite your regular very negative comments about the airline and BAEC, they have clearly got you hooked on tier points. That’s smart.

    Missing 140 points
Flew 1st to BGI in April then Business back. 15 night stay through BA holidays. Have had double tier points for the outward journey (210×2) but only 140 for the return instead of 280. Been over 8 weeks. BA claim form doesn’t work and when you call an automated reply sends you a text with a link to the BA site that, of course doesn’t work. Can anyone recommend an email address that might actually work????

    NorthernLass 10,211 posts

This gets asked regularly – apparently you need to call BAH to get this resolved.

    Hi there

    I just read this article

    https://www.headforpoints.com/2023/12/15/british-airways-holidays-double-tier-points-offer/

I’m about to book flights to Bangkok through Doha and this article says that it’s possible to achieve double tier points for all four of the flights, given the change in aircraft at Doha, with total tier points of 1120 for the trip. This sounds great but how do I book it correctly to achieve this?

The flight calculator on BA.com shows only 140 tier points each way for LHR-BKK, so 280 each way with a package. Achieving 560 total.

If I book the flights separately ie. LHR-DOH and DOH-BKK then surely I would only get double tier points on the DOH-BKK as this would be the package flight. Therefore effective total rising to 840.

Any tips to getting the 1120 gratefully received!

    thank you

Use the ‘Create custom trip’ link on the Flight + Hotel or BA Holidays page to specify you want separate LHR-DOH and DOH-BKK as part of the package, then you get 4×140, doubled to 1120.

    thank you

The calculator page also clearly states this –

You can also use this calculator for connecting flights. Simply enter each flight separately and then add the amounts together.

Example: for New York to Edinburgh via London, enter New York to London, then London to Edinburgh. Select the New York airport, such as JFK, and London airport, such as LHR.

QQ can it be 2 nights hotel and 3 nights car hire to qualify for double TPs?

Yes as long as you meet all the other Ts and Cs, you can mix and match hotel and car nights. They can’t overlap though……so must be 5 separate nights

    Thanks @nectar collector

A company called propeller travel does for a fee.

    Is that strictly true?

If the trip covers 5 nights, is there anything in the T&Cs that says the car hire and hotel cannot overlap rather than there just has to be a total of 5 nights, in order to qualify?

    Technical semantics at play here

    TGLoyalty 1,222 posts

Ofcourse you can have both at the same time but the point is it’s either hotel or car that counts for each night so if you take hotel and car for 3 nights at the same time you won’t qualify. Or if you did 2 nights hotel and 3 nights car but had the car for the last night at hotel you’ve only had a 4 night trip. Regardless of the time between flights being 5 nights+

    sayling 123 posts

I’m sure I’ve read contrary reports on the Flyertalk.com site, indicating that, so long as the trip is 5+ nights, and the cumulative total of hotel and car is 5 nights, when those nights of hotel and car are consumed is irrelevant.

However, it is gaming the offer and definitely playing with the spirit of the offer. Not something I would do, but if someone were to risk pushing it this way and understood the risks, have at it. There is, really, only one way to find out, after all, no matter what any of us say

    Richie 1,253 posts

@sayling I’m not sure that doing say any open jaw flight trip including 2 hotel nights in Rhodes then 3 nights car hire on Kos is “..gaming the offer..”
