Welcome to our regular round-up of the best hotel promotions currently running.

As we’re now in December, it’s time to get your ducks in a row for status renewal, status upgrades or milestone rewards targets. Time is running out. You might also want to use any expiring suite upgrade vouchers you may have as an Accor or Marriott top tier member.

All of the information in this article can also be found on our ‘Hotel Offers’ page which contains details of all of the current offers, together with links to our major articles on each hotel scheme.  However, a positive response from readers – especially our 16,000 email subscribers – means we run this monthly article as a handy summary.

Here are quick summaries and links to the registration pages you need for each offer – do it before you forget. (I apologise to email readers if this block is mangled – scroll down to the main text area!)

The second promotion offers double elite night credits, meaning that each night counts as two nights towards earning or retaining Hilton Honors status.  This runs from 11th October to 31st December.  You can register for this offer here.

Where should you credit your stays for December 2022?

Remember that, irrespective of the offers below, there is never a single ‘best’ offer.

Some offers require multiple stays to maximise the bonus, which you might not do. Some require stays to be a minimum number of nights before a bonus is earned.

You need to factor in any elite status you have, which will earn you additional status bonuses.

More importantly, you need to be able to use the points. There is no value in earning a large bonus in a scheme where you will never go on to earn enough points to get a free night.

Hilton (Hampton, Conrad, Waldorf-Astoria etc)

Hilton is running TWO offers at the same stay. You can register for both, and both will credit to your account.

The points offer is called ‘Double Your Stay’.  You can register here.  Our full article is here. It runs until 31st December.

You will earn double base points on all stays and a further 2,000 bonus points on top if you check out on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

You need to register in advance of your stay via the Hilton website here.  Existing bookings count and all Hilton Honors hotels are taking part.

The second offer is for double elite night credits – handy if you are looking to retain or gain Hilton Honors status. You can register here. Our full article is here. It runs to 31st December.

The Hilton booking page is here.

IHG One Rewards new offers

IHG (InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo etc)

Between 13th October and 31st December, you can earn bonus base points on your IHG One Rewards stays.

You must register in advance via this link.

Interestingly, you can choose your reward from either:

  • 2,000 bonus points for every two nights or
  • 10,000 bonus points for every four nights

In terms of counting ‘nights’, reward nights do not count. This is different from the way that IHG usually counts ‘nights’ in terms of earning elite status or milestone rewards.

Existing bookings DO count so there is no need to rebook anything.

Current Marriott Bonvoy promotions

Marriott Bonvoy (Renaissance, The Ritz-Carlton, Sheraton, Westin, W, Aloft, St Regis, Luxury Collection, Moxy etc)

Between 21st September and 15th December, you will earn 2,000 bonus points per STAY on every cash stay at a Marriott hotel. However, registration is now closed.

I value a Bonvoy point at 0.5p so this is equivalent to a £5.00 bonus per night.  It is clearly a better deal on cheap one-night stays than expensive week-long holidays.

You only receive the bonus from your second cash stay after registration. You receive no bonus on your first stay. Holders of the Marriott Bonvoy American Express card will receive additional bonuses.

world of hyatt narrow

Hyatt (inc Alila, Andaz, Thomson, Unbound Collection, Miraval)

Until 20th December, you can earn bonus base points on your World of Hyatt stays with the new ‘Bonus Journeys’ promotion. However, registration is now closed.

You will earn double base points on all stays of 2+ nights.

There is an additional bonus of double elite night credits if you stay at one of 65 all inclusive resorts recently bought by Hyatt, but these are primarily not in places where you are likely to be visiting.

As well as Hyatt-branded hotels, it is also valid at participating M life Rewards destinations, Small Luxury Hotels of the World hotels and Lindblad Expeditions.

  • Manya says:

Isn’t IHG also offering 25% off points redemptions?

Could stack well with the 100% bonus on purchased points.

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

Book by today for a 25% discount on the cash element of a points plus cash booking for stays in January and February.

  • Danilo says:

Do Amex offers ever includes US hotels?
I like the European offers but would be great to use the cash back as well in US or elsewhere..

Ever happened that the offer was triggered regardless?

  • Chas says:

My Marriott offer (on my Marriott card, so equivalent to you bottom bullet) is “Spend £250 or more, get £100 back”. My wife has the same. We’re currently in Berlin where we’ll be using them up.

    • Chas says:

Just checked the linked offer above which discusses the offer correctly, so it’s just the text in today’s article which needs correcting.

      • Rob says:

        Thanks, will fix.

        • Chas says:

Still not quite right, but never mind… Incidentally @Rob when did you last use the Exec lounge at the Marriott Berlin? I recall your glowing comments (“one of the best in Europe” if I remember correctly), but politely I think it’s anything but that. First time here, but I suspect that it’s had some significant cost cutting in recent times.

          • Rob says:

Last time I went to the ITB trade show, so Feb 2019. I am down to go again in Feb 2023 for ITB. Clearly it’s not a Ritz Carlton luxury lounge but I thought it worked well in terms of the space and the strength of the spread.

          • Chas says:

The space is big enough with plenty of windows, but the spread at Aspire Luton on Thursday evening was massively better than the meagre offerings available last night. Hot option of dry looking fish cakes and rice. Cold option of smoked salmon, lumps of cheese and coleslaw. Alcoholic options of slightly sweet (own brand) fizz, white and red wines or an un-named lager. We’re going to pay for breakfast in the main restaurant this morning…

Hotel is nicely located though, and the foyer area is lovely.

          • Chas says:

I meant the Escape Lounge at Stansted. Need coffee….

    • Joey says:

I’m wondering why my AMEX Marriott card doesn’t have any Marriott offer since I opened it in August. Seems strange to me.

  • Kevin says:

My suite upgrade requested was denied by Marriott during our last stay in Lisbon (cash) despite it is still selling the suite room during our check in. The hotel said it is down to the central system nothing they can do. The remainder suite night voucher is now becoming useless to us now.

    • Rob says:

I’ve used 13 this year and not a single one failed to clear. Admittedly some of these were not top tier hotels (2 were Courtyard Gatwick!) but I had two stays at University Arms in Cambridge which cleared into the top two suites, St Regis New York cleared and a few other decent places. Should do an article actually.

On one stay in Hamburg I booked two hotels on flexible rates for the same night, applied a suite upgrade at both and then cancelled one after I saw which upgrade cleared in the best room (ended up in the top suite at Le Meridien).

Next year I will only have 5 vs 15 to use so I will end up using them more selectively, but this does (admittedly) mean I will probably have a couple not clear as they will applied at popular hotels at popular times. Courtyard Gatwick is unlikely to see another certificate from me. Booking multiple hotels for the same night still seems the best tactic!
